Socialism!?!? What's next!? Fire departments!? Police departments!? Roads!? LIBRARIES!?

Screw the sick people, they should DIE and/or suffer for being sick! Poor people are better off DEAD!

Got cancer? Well you should have thought harder about getting it while uninsured, you've got a pre-existing condition now, sucker! What's that you say? Health insurance that's even worth having is only group insurance that's tied to employment and you got laid off? TOUGH NUGGETS! WE DONT LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER IN THIS COUNTRY!

It's called selfishness but we try to make ourselves sound nicer by saying it's personal responsibility and socialism if we help each other.

We tell our kids to share their toys, but we won't help sick suffering people. What the f--- is wrong with people?

The most powerful country in the world should take care of its citizens. If we are going to have a government, it should at least give back to us. We spend insane amounts of money on things we don't need. How about we focus the money on things we DO need. Government is going to tax and spend either way, we might as well see some good from it.

Socialism will never happen in America, at least not in our lifetime, we'll riot and civil war before we allow the government to control our wealth and freedom.

Their is always a bit of socialism in every government how do you think they passed the bail out plan? By taking some of the huge Seo's salary away, It just that some governments have more socialism then other governments, not to mention that Socialism is when businesses (weather it's all or one or in between) are controlled by the government or are partially controlled by the government but if there's pure socialism then the economy, among other things, won't work, Capitalism is a system of businesses not controlled by the government, but if you have pure capitalism then the businesses go out of control and do whatever they want, for example raising the prices super high...

Long story short: No government can function without having a bit of socialism and a bit of capitalism and if you have too much of one then the government doesn't function.

At least this is the way I see it as.

For the most part, I'm glad how the election turned out. The only thing that I disagree with is that people voted YES on Prop 8 here in California. =/

Depressing as that is, that was a subject of a lot of jokes after the elections. At Homecoming I somehow ended up with this random guy dancing right behind me (that happens when 500 people are grinding at once, I guess :P), and then we were like, "Hey, Prop 8 didn't pass!"

:embarrassed: I am very excited! I did vote for Obama and I do believe the best man won. As far as his socialist ideas, anything is better than John McCain's hopeful 100 year continuance on the war in Iraq, or another period of time with a stupid ****ing monkey in office. Obama, the worst president in u.s. history? Try George W. Bush. And the blood of all those who died in vein(Sept. 11th, Iraq) be only on his ignorant head. If you haven't heard, or seen, search for the video "Loose Change," on google video or youtube. Truly will blow your mind.

I'm also very happy that Obama won; I really think he was the best choice. And while Kimmy was right, the President doesn't really hold the power to create the type of change the Legislative Branch is capable of, he does represent America, and I like the image he projects.

For instance, right now I'm an American living in a dorm with almost entirely Europeans, and the day Obama was elected EVERYONE celebrated. I have literally heard only support from our new president from the international college students I know. Now whether this can be attributed to the greatness of Obama or the horrendous-ness of Bush... I'm not so sure.

A note though, hard-core Obama supporters need to brace for disappointment. Obama will be a great president I think, but no where near as great as the hype surrounding him. He is becoming President at a very trying point of American history, and before he can implement any of his new infrastructural plans he needs to work towards fixing the economy.

You can't create change if you only have change.

Yes I wrote this whole post so I could make that pun :P

Obama really only has a couple of socialist ideas, and we will soon find that we don't have near the infrastructure to pull it off, we're just to populous and to spread out.

it's still a fucking step.

I never said it wasn't a step. But it will not be fullt implemented even in the near future. The only point I tried to make. somehow, every time I make a simple point, it gets blown up and people get offended. I don't mean for it to, but it's a simple fact, we don't have the infrastructure to support universal anything, really. And it's also a fact that Americans will defend what they see as their freedom, that means not havng a wholly socilalized system.

And as for public schools and libraries and police, and fire, and ambulance. In my state, schools are funded almost entirely off of casinos, libraries come out of the city and state taxes that I pay, and chose to increase, police get some of the local taxes, that we voted to increase, and I get a nice plump $650 dollar bill every time I use an ambulance, so guess where they get their money?

Some socialized ideas, like those public systems are entirely acceptable. I'm not against that kind of thing, it's goverment controlling every business, and only government businesses getting to exist that I don't like.

Oh and YLA, no, you won't, stop saying we're all gonna die, you'll be fine, you won't go to Canada, you'll sit at home, going to your nice school, and probably never have anything real to complain about, like most people.

I'll say it again, I did not vote for Obama, but I will stand behind our leader. He has a chance to be great, and I hope in four years, I can say that I want him in for another four years. He just has to get some economic sense. Socialism looks good on paper, but it doesn't work in a country such as ours. again, my opinion.

I'm definitely happy that Obama won, but my state, Arizona, voted for McCain. We also voted in proposition 102, editing the Arizona constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Wasn't too happy about that. Ah well, I'm still glad that I voted, even if it didn't really seem to make a difference.

Honestly, I don't care about any of this stuff. It means nothing to me. Probably never will.

I didn't get offended. And that's exactly my point, USA has to approach it step by step. A "revolution" is out of the question.

Know what? I would rather have another 4 more years of Bush. There I said it.

@Ryu: Well you it might affect you in the future. I'm not sure how, but it will.
