Yeah it was amusing because Eka was not entirely sure what to do at first with the roller but after a few games she got the hang of it

So me and Cascade got put into a game against a bunch of low level players (for reference I am at level 20, the max, and Cascade is at level 16). We have no idea why we were paired with a bunch of new players but one thing is certain

We won with over 70% of the map covered, which is ridiculous, and I had 15 Kills and only 2 Deaths. We just completely annihilated them. We both felt pretty terrible about it.

We have a Marvel thread, a DC thread, and arguably a Manga thread (Via the Anime Thread) so lets talk about, you know, other comics! Due to the massive continuities that Marvel, DC, and more than occasionally Manga have, getting into comics can be very scary. But luckily there is SO MUCH MORE THAN THOSE! Here are a few series I would 100% recommend. Tell me some of your favorite comics and we can all discuss them like buddies.
 
First up, The Wicked + The Devine 

Every 90 years, 12 mythological gods are reborn as humans. They are loved, they are hated, and in 2 years time, they will be dead.
Issue 11 comes out this week, and you can already grab the first trade (collecting issues 1-5) for $10. The second volume drops in mid July and will contain issues 6-10, I'm assuming. So honestly, this is the perfect series to pick up right now. I'm not caught up, as I fell behind a bit during the second arc, but I'm planning on buying issue 11 and just not reading it until the second trade is available, then going back to it monthly by issues.
 
The first arc is about a young girl who befriends Lucifer at a concert for Amaterasu. Soon after, Lucifer is charged for a murder she did not commit. It's great and the end of the first volume totally had me craving more. A really neat aspect of the series is that all the Gods are based off of real pop idols. Lucifer is (a female) David Bowie, Baal is Kanye West, Wooden is Daft Punk, etc. It's really neat to see these fictionalized versions of real musicians. What if the gods of today's media were ACTUALLY gods? READ IT!
 
Luther Strode 

I just finished the first volume (titled "The Strange Talent of Luther Strode") and oh man it was top notch! Typical story about a nerdy kid who gets "super powers", you've heard it before. Except it wasn't from a radio active spider, or anything like that. Nah, he unknowingly obtained his powers from a murder cult that goes all the way back to Cain, the first person to commit murder, according to Biblical mythos. It really does not end well for him. But it's exciting and wonderfully drawn! It's almost like reading an animation. I have serious love for this artist! I believe volume 2 is called "The Legend of Luther Strode" and volume 3, which just started with an issue 1, is called "The Legacy of Luther Strode." Legacy will be the last series for Strode, but the author said it may not be the end of the "Lutherverse"! Oh and iif you couldn't tell based on the image above, it's ultra violent. READ IT!
 
Teen Dog

Okay so Teen Dog is the story of a Dog who is also a Teen. Mostly a slice of life comedy, each issue builds on the last, but not enough to where you can't just pick up a random issue and enjoy it. It's probably my favorite comic ever. The humor is so innocent yet 1000% hilarious! If you're a fan of Nedroid type comics, PICK THIS UP! The series is finished (7 issues total) and the collected trade comes out on November 24th. READ IT!
 
Help Us! Great Warrior

Okay this one is another 7 issue mini series like Teen Dog. Issue 4 should be out soon. It's about a sassy as fuuuuuuuuck girl who is also a legendary hero! It's hilarious. If you like slaying demons and cute boys, you'll love this series. if your name is Cascade, you'll love this series. READ IT!
 
What comics are you guys reading? I know LL should have a few to recommend. 

So vacation's been good for me, I've been getting a lot of leisure time in and even though my wallet is feeling it I'm feeling a lot better. I've even gotten into exercising again. I've still got work to do for this summer but I figured I'm gonna hold off for a few more days since my best friend is getting married this weekend and whatnot. 
 
Apparently Comcast's been screwing with our bill on a yearly basis (charging us some $40-50 more), so  my mom called to get it all figured out. They did fix it AND we are getting like two years of HBO for free. Last night I used HBO Go to watch GoT at my bf's apartment and it was fantastic. The episode was really good too.

Hands down must own

No one's in any great hurry to recanonize it on the count of how generally poor it is, I think we can safely forget it

Oyasumi Punpun is nothing like I would have expected. I just saw a couple strange looking shots of it, and it got my interest. The main character is represented as a crudely drawn bird, as are his family. Everything else is pretty high quality.
 

 
It's absolutely a coming of age story. The silly premise of Punpun and his family is very misleading, as in the first chapter you're introduced to his home life as his father lashes out and punches his mother. From there the manga has a fair bit of violence, sex, masturbation, and depression, with a lot of flawed characters and dark, very secret thoughts. It's almost embarrassing how openly it talks about feelings. Punpun has very very little direct dialogue, and never in a speech bubble.
 
I'm on chapter 52 out of 147. It's good so far. He's almost starting high school.

Splatoon is mostly aimed at a kid-teenager base, it's not really for mature and real competitive gamers... So nope, i'm not excited for this game... Nintendo just focuses on kid games with "Fun Factor" which appeals to casual gamers, who just want to enjoy a game and not be competitive or just want to relieve their child hood. Why doesn't Nintendo make an exclusive game that doesn't have colorful graphics, what I mean by that, is games like Mario,kirby, etc. They need to make a game like call of duty or skyrim. Which Nintendo have never done before, because they focus on kiddie games..

Gonna take my driving test tomorrow morning and I gotta pass so I can fucking drive to Colossalcon because the next time I could possibly take the test is DURING THE CON.

 

No like a few of the Death Grips albums are purposely awful. Its okay if you dont like them they were puppying with people 100% for 2 or 3 albums. Otherwise they are puppying with people like 75%.

HIATUS ENDS MID-JUNE

I'm watching Durarara!! Right now and it reminds me so much of GoT but with a slightly different approach. Like each episode so far has focused on a different character but all around the same few days. GoT kinda does that, but by scenes not episodes and like weeks not days. But thematically I find it super similar. Like 150% character driven. All "events" in the show happen because a character did something or is doing something. Nothing "just happens" you know? And everyone is connected or eventually crosses paths naturally so the setting feels almost real. This is probably gonna be my favorite anime once I finish rewatching it. Also, lol, it's use of "paranormal" compares very well to magic in the early seasons of GoT. It's there but it's not in abundance, so it feels just as mysterious to us as it does to the characters.

Wait that cobra video, it's obviously "vintage" anime but that opening was sooooooooooo cool! newer anime openings are exactly the same but with "upgraded" animation. But honestly this looks like It was a trend setter opening. Like new anime needs to learn to be more original. Update the thematics, not just the graphics!
