  1. A few years ago when Sony first announced the plan to Reboot Spider-Man many people campaigned to have the characters ethnicity changed. Actor Donald Glover even campaigned to audition. Now with another reboot on the way people again have taken to the internet to have Spider-Man played by a non white actor, however this time they have targeted Stephen Yuen of The Walking Dead as Peter Park.

I have said it before that I wouldn't mind if they chose to go another way with Spider-Man, just not Peter Parker. The recent Spider-Verse revealed that all the parallel reality Spider-Men (and Women, Hams etc) all exist out there. If Marvel ever tries to go a different route with Spider-Man, which I hope they do, here are some that I'd like to see.

    Yu Komori: The Spider-Man Manga

    Miguel O'Hara: Spider-Man 2099

    Pavitr Prabhakar: Spider-Man India

    Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man

  2. The next addition to "They Might've been Marvel's" is a Joss Whedon alum Summer Glau. During casting for X-Men 2 Summer read for the part of Kitty Pryde but unfortunately wasn't chosen for the Role. Glau contacted Joss Whedon and told him of the experience reading for the part and the emotion in the words, it was later revealed that the Dialog used for the try out was taken from Astonishing X-Men #5 written by Joss himself.

  3. People often ask me "Technical" questions about Marvel such as;

"How is [insert name] still young/alive if they've been around since the 60's?"

Marvel comics don't follow the same timeline as the real world does. For speculation sake let's say that there will be twelve issues released in a year, one each month. An issue follows a snippet of Time that continues in subsequent issues. For Marvel three issues equal a month (unless otherwise stated). So the current timescale is four to one, 4 years real time to one year comic time.

Peter Parker was 16 in Amazing Fantasy #15, without the shift he would be 58 today. With the shift he is his exact age, 28.

  4. I'm on mobile and pictures refuse to load, so I'm just gonna assume that's Spiderman. Is it Spiderman?

    Yes.

It looks like the other half of the duo of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Martin Freeman has been cast in an Unspecified role in Captain America: Civil War. His co-star Benedict Cumberbatch was recently cast as Stephen Strange in Dr. Strange.

I'm trying to think who he could be playing and the character I keep going back too is Senator Dell Rusk the Secretary of Defense.

  8. I liked it a lot. However, I thought lots of the dialogue was too snippy, or like said to quickly. I feel like I missed jokes and quips and whatever. I didn't understand the Thor and the water part. I only vaguely understood why Vibranium was important. I thought that lots of Ultron's justification was weak. I don't get why Ultron wanted a new body? I mean he wanted the Mind Stone, but was that it?

The "Waters of Sight" also known as "The Well of Wyrd" have appeared many times as a plot device in The Mighty Thor comics. When Thor needs insight he will bathe in the water for guidance.

Ultron wanted a body that was virtually indestructible that was why he sought out Ulysses Klaw (a Black Panther Villain) to get Vibranium. It was basically an "In" to set up Black Panther. I suspect that in the MCU version of Wakanda, King T'Chaka is dead and the throne has been usurped, possibly by M'Baku The Man Ape and T'Challa will try to reclaim it.

  9. Every awards season they do a retrospective of Celebrities who have passed away. Which late celebrity do you miss?

I miss John Candy. You couldn't go to a comedy film in the 80's and 90's without Candy showing up. He played Barf the Mog (part Man, part Dog his own best friend) in Spaceballs, a black sheep brother to a straightlaced Mother in Uncle Buck and even a lovable lout camp counselor in the Animated series "Camp Candy".

If he were still alive I have little doubt he'd still be a comedy gem.

  10. What a great movie! There we so many great moments I can't even list them, but I could try. Spoilers ahead!

    1. "Language!"

Cap scolding Tony on his use of the word Shit is right out of the comics.

    2. The twins

The way they introduced Wanda and Pietro was very much win. Misguided people who end up doing the right thing.

    3. Ulysses Klaw

The very subtle mention of Wakanda will play into the next phase

    4.The Vision

Stark uploading JARVIS into the Techno-Organic body Ultron was crafting for himself was a very cool Coup

    5. The New Avengers

Wanda, Vision, Falcon and War Machine

    6. The Thanos mid credits scene

    "I'll do it myself!

    7. Thor getting a look

Thor seeing the stones and bits of Thanos' plan

    8. Not a part of the film but the very nice people at Digiplex Bloomfield

One of the Employees actually carried my popcorn and soda for me so I could wheel myself to the wheelchair row.

  11. I didn't know any of that. It was interesting. But damn, that's the most contrived and convoluted origin story ever.

Like is she a super soldier, is she magic, or

    Magic.

In conjunction with Fascinating Fact I bring you, today in irony.

When he was a junior in High School Robert Downey Jr served a one day suspension from school after he stole a classmate's comic book and tore it up, that book was Invincible Iron Man #15

Well here we are, on the eve of Age of Ultron and the last (and my personal favorite) lesser know Avenger....

    Sentry

Imagine yourself as an overweight, middle-aged alcoholic, well that is Robert Reynolds. Bob finds himself haunted by dreams, in these dreams he is Sentry, a powerful hero who teams up with some of the Earths greatest heroes regularly. As the dreams come more frequently Bob begins to suspect that they are not just dreams but hidden memories. After drinking a vial of liquid he finds in a hollowed out book he suddenly gains incredible powers. He visits Reed Richards who at first has no idea who Bob is but starts to remember. The world wakes up to the memory of Sentry returning. But unfortunately happiness is short lived, his arch enemy The Void returns too. It is then revealed that both Bob and Void are aspects of the same shattered psyche. Doctor Strange, in an effort to stop the void put a magical whammy on the planet and made everyone forget hopefully forever but it didn't work. The key to stopping Void lies with Bob. Summoning all his courage, Bob combats his evil personality and they are both seemingly killed. However it is revealed that Bob lives and just as before has no memory of being a Super Hero, but only time will tell which personality really survived.

  12. I was recently playing Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and remembered on of my favorite parts of it's Gamecube predecessor when Luigi would nervously hum over the music.

  13. Today's obscure Avenger

    Lionheart

Kelsey Leigh was a single mother with two young children who lived in South-East England. She was a schoolteacher who taught English literature and history. Back when she was married, thugs invaded her home, robbing her family and gang-raping her. She fought back, hurting one of her rapists, and he cut her face with a broken bottle in revenge, scarring her permanently. Meanwhile, her husband, Richard, was too paralyzed with fear to help her. His guilt over that incident led to the dissolution of the marriage.

One fateful day, her family found themselves on the front line of a battle between the Avengers and the Wrecking CrewThunderball rendered Captain America unconscious and Kelsey selflessly put herself between the fallen Captain and the Wasp and their attacker, using the downed hero's shield. While the shield was indestructible, Kelsey wasn't, and the shock from the blows inflicted terrible injuries; she died en route to receiving medical attention.

Kelsey awoke to find herself in a ring of standing stones, where she was met by a vision of Brian Braddock (Captain Britain), currently ruling Otherworld, and his wife, the elemental shapeshifter Meggan. To save Britain from the evil Morgan le Fay, he passed the mantle of Captain Britain to Kelsey. Her heroic act of bravery had earned her a second chance to live and to defend her home. As was Braddock before her; Kelsey was given the choice between the Sword of Might and the Amulet of Right. However, unlike when Braddock made that choice, Kelsey was only presented with the choice between sword or amulet, and she was not informed of their symbolic importance. Kelsey, desperate to see her children again, and not seeing how a necklace could defend anything, chose the sword, the path of violence. Instantly, she was transformed into the new Captain Britain, only to discover that her decision meant that if she ever revealed who she was to her children, it would cost their lives.

  14. Is Dragon Ball worth watching? Never had much interest

I was never much a fan of the original Dragon Ball, but I loved Dragon Ball Z. It does suffer from what I like to call "Drag the story out-itis" where the characters spend a good portion of the episode "building up power" for an attack that will happen in the next episode. If you want to skip all of that and the non canon stuff (filler stories not in the Manga) then you're better off with Dragon Ball Z Kai.

  15. People often say that hindsight is 20/20. Looking back at the early 2000's and the fervor caused by casting an unknown actor named Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Now we couldn't even picture another actor in the role, however way back in 1997 when the first X-Men movie was in pre production another name was being considered for the role, Mel Gibson.

No you didn't read that wrong, back when Gibson was a hot Hollywood commodity and before his descent into "Passion of the Christ" fuelled Antisemitism he was being considered to play Logan.

    mel-gibson-wolverine-concept-art.jpg

This is an actual piece of concept art of Gibson with the traditional Logan Sideburns and claws.

  16. The Kree can shapeshift. Warehouse 13 actor Eddie McClintock portrayed Vin-Tak another member of the Kreevoid Science Navy investigating the Terregin Crystal activation in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The next Spider-Man has been found folks. Actor Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) is the frontrunner to play Peter Parker in the joint MCU/Sony collaboration.

  17. From: The Hyrule Historia (Page 157)

"And it came to pass that amidst the Devistation The Hero of Time called upon the Sages to seal the evil one away for all time."

My Mother used to tell me stories about the Past, stories about a special boy who was touched by the Goddesses. This "Chosen Hero" would fight against impossible odds to save his home from a great evil. The last thing she ever said to me was....

"Be brave Lucas, you are just like that hero."

And for a long time I believed her.

But Hyrule has changed, there are no chosen heroes and dastardly villains, just cops and criminals that need catching. When I told my adopted father Kip that I was joining The Protectorate Academy he was furious, he told me that I was meant for something more.

Thankfully by the time I graduated he had mellowed.

As a Rookie I did the normal rookie stuff, gradually going through the ranks until I made Detective.....I should've stayed a Uniform!

    Chapter One: Red Light Mayhem

You learn many hard truths on the Job but one above all is sacred, find someone to unburden yourself.

"Nothing makes a Protector eat his gun faster then issues." Russell would say. "Be it a Priest, a Bar tender or your barber, find someone to unload on kid!"

Russell was a good guy, unfortunately his second day in retirement he dropped dead of a heart attack while grilling outside. At his memorial service his wife Uli told me his heart was still with the Protectors.

One evening after I had caught a bullet during the riots in K-Ville I met Maria, a Paramedic. We've been banging off and on ever since, we also use each other for more than just carnal pleasures. We each absorb the other Horrors we see on the job.

That first night I was woken by a ringing phone, a quick glance at my GS revealed the caller as "Guess who!" my humorous label for Kevin my partner.

Kevin Fox was a few years older than me, he was the kind of guy who always had a joke ready, a real sly sort that's why we would always call him Sly as a Fox.

I considered hurtling my GS against the wall and returning to bed with Maria but decided to answer.

"Hello!?" I said with an air of annoyance.

"Sorry to call you so late partner but we've got another one." Kev said.

    "Are you sure?"

"Yeah same MO, we've officially got a serial."

"Text me the Address, I'm gonna hop in the shower then meet you."

    "Ok......tell Maria I said Hi."

I slid out of bed and tried to move silently, but stealth is not one of my strong suits.

"Is it morning?" Maria asked turning over.

"No it's hardly even 2 yet."

    "What are you doing up?"

"Kevin called, there's been another Murder."

"Same guy, holy shit that makes it a serial!"

"I'm gonna hop in the shower and then bounce, you can stay and I'll call you later."

"Naw I better head out but I could use a shower too, care if I join you?"

A week ago a "Potion" addict was slumming through the alley behind Mido's in K-Ville when he stumbled upon a body, some Green haired Pros calling herself Saria. The ME said that she had been struck on the back of the head with a six inch diameter cylindrical object and dragged into the secluded alley. He used a knife to cut her dress off then with one powerful thrust sliced an incision from her abdomen to her collar bone. He then cut her rib cage at the Manubrium and down to the Xiphoid Process and splayed them open to get at his true objective, her heart.

The entire drive over I couldn't help but think of my Mother, she would always say that the Heart held great power, perhaps this sicko thought so too.

"Detective Lucas Greene arriving at scene 225-B" I announced over the radio.

As i exited a group of lookieloos had gathered I spotted Sanders, a Crime tech and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hey Sanders, make sure you get as much of the crowd as you can. perhaps our sicko came back to enjoy the show."

    "Yes sir Detective Greene."

Thank the Goddesses for Kevin Fox, as I neared him I could smell the Deku Nut Roast wafting my way.

    "Fun night?" he asked

    "No more than usual."

"I tell you Luke you need to ask that girl to Marry you!"

"You talking about Farmer, the Medic?" Ignacio the ME said.

"How does he kno....how do you know?" I asked.

"Why are you looking at me, I am a highly trained investigator I know how to keep a secret!"

    "You told Angie Didn't you!"

"She made me man, I'm sorry!"

"That wife of yours is a menace Kev!"

The scene was a virtual corbon copy of the first, an isolated spot but with room to work, just as before the deep cut flayed the skin to expose the ribs and the heart.

"You still friendly with that Hairpiece over at HNN?"

    "Trevor, yeah why?" Kev asked

"I think that the local street walkers should be aware that there's someone crusing for more than just pleasure out here."

"I'd hold off on that if I were you Detective!" Ignacio said.

"And why would I do that Ingo, please tell me!"

"This girl is not a Hooker."

"And what Medical intuition lead you to that?"

"Besides the intact Hymen, these flyers in her purse tell a different story."

"Friday night services at the Trinity Church, join us and give praise to the Three Goddesses. She's a missionary!"

Ingo was right the young girl Melody was a Missionary. She would often hand out flyers to the lost souls in the K-Ville Red Light District she even befriended Gormoto a Goron bouncer at Club Chu.

"Melody was very nice, she would often stop by and chat with the girls between sets, she had a big heart and was very curious about Goron Culture."

My Mother used to tell me stories about the other races that inhabited Hyrule, the proud Goron, the wise Zora and the studious Deku Scrubs. After the Industrial revolution the other races hardly ever came into contact with the Hylia except during emergencies.

"I was fascinated with the stories of The Hylian people, when I told my Elder I wanted to experience the world outside Death Mountain he told me not to return."

"Thanks Gormoto, if you can think of anything else just give us a call." Kevin said handing him a card.

"Has there been any break on finding 'Saria's' identity yet?"

"Unfortunately no the only records her prints are linked to give her Street Name, we are running Genetics but it's taking longer than expected." Kevin said

"I'm gonna go get something for breakfast then head over to see Kip."

"Oh ok, how's the old man doing?"

"He's almost 70 but amazingly has the energy of a teenager, it's unnatural."

Kip put up with a lot of my childhood issues. After my mother died I had all this anger and he helped me focus that anger into something productive, learning. Kip is the curator of the Royal Library in Castle Town. Each day after school he would choose a book and have me read as much as possible then quiz me about it.

I have a deep respect for that man.

  18. Whoa. I guess we'll get some more backstory on what happened to him for the eventual Captain Marvel movie. Interesting how the most interesting parts of Agents of SHIELD are the bits least connected with the main SHIELD storyline/conflict, like this whole Inhumans plot going on.

It seems that Mar-Vell's story involves him appearing on Earth in 1947 as the only survivor of a crashed Kree vessel in a certain famous incident in New Mexico. He lives as a Human named Walter Lawson. His story will be explored in Season two of Agent Carter.
