  1. Too many Rupees? Make the arrow counter the same as the Rupee counter. Whenever you shoot an arrow, you lose one Rupee. Just like the good old days..... Cutting back on the orange and purple Rupees would help too.

  2. Wow, someone remembered the Song of Storms Paradox.

The game obviously wants you to assume that Link taught the man at the windmill. It is pretty much a canon fact. However, it is one that conflicts with other canon facts. The only way to get around it is to ignore what is implied and conclude that someone else besides Link taught the man at the windmill the Song. To do that is to ignore canon- sometimes ignoring canon is necessary for the Zelda series to remain consistent.

  3. My spidy senses were tingling! Something..... has.... happened! Interest. Altogether very plausible, yes, very plausible. A few little nit-picks, so long as discussion can be made.

Child 4/5th Game(s): Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons: A problem emerges when one places the Oracles between OoT and TP. Twilight Princess seems to carry on the status quo from OoT- that the Triforce is broken into pieces and in the hands of its three traditional holders, Link, Zelda, and Ganon (and Link and Zelda's descendants/reincarnations). However, in Oracles the Triforce is whole and kept in Hyrule Castle. It isn't clear how it became separated before TP, but the game's backstory would imply that the Triforce was scattered not long after the events of OoT. So between OoT and TP doesn't fit very well..... However, events after A Link to the Past or Zelda II:AoL are perfect. The Triforce is whole and apparently in the hands of the Royal Family (conjecture, yes, but consistent) at the end of both games. Ganon is also dead and needs to be resurrected during the Oracle games- between OoT and TP Ganondorf is quite alive. Also note that Ganon in the Oracles is a big blue, super-powered boar without the Triforce of Power. Thereforce it can be assumed that this particular Ganon is the same as the one from Four Swords Adventures, who gains his beastly form from the Trident of Power. That however has a problem when it comes to FSA Ganon not dying at the end of the game........

Which brings us to: Child 9th Game: Four Swords Adventures: Ganondorf actually orchestrated Vaati's un-sealing from the Four Sword- Vaati didn't revive a dead Ganon, nor really does he have any reason to. This Ganon is stated to be a reincarnation (along similar lines of Zelda and Link being reborn over and over again) of a previous Ganondorf. Of note, the Ganon in A Link to the Past also has a trident like this one's Trident of Power, and doesn't seem to rely on the Triforce for his abilities (leaving the entire thing locked in a room, instead of 'within' himself). The remake of A Link to the Past for the GBA also features an extra dungeon in the Dark World where the Four Sword can be found- FSA Ganon's final prison. All these small clues point to Four Swords Adventures occuring before A Link to the Past and the Oracle games. So.....

Four Swords Adventures- Ganon alive, sealed later- Triforce not seen

A Link to the Past- Ganon sealed, killed later- Triforce in Dark World, with Link later

Oracles- Ganon dead, brought back from dead and killed later- Triforce in Hyrule Castle

(They all look exactly the same to boot)

And yes, that does bring up the problem of the Master Sword's appearance in the Oracle games if it is supposed to rest forever. But I have a strong feeling that its appearance in a Linked Game isn't really counted as 'canon', or may simply represent a different sword altogether. In Seasons, when Link first retrieves his L-2 sword, it is called the Noble Sword, not the Master Sword. Only after it has been 'sharpened' does it become 'The Master Sword'. True, he is in the Lost Woods, and yes, he pulls it out of a glowy pedistal with a Triforce mark on it, which all looks very Master Sword-like. But consider that in Ages, 400 years in the past, an identical sword is in the possession of an elderly Zora, who trades it to your for an ukulele. Not Master Swordy at all. The simplist explanation is that in either case we aren't dealing with the REAL Master Sword- just a powerful magic sword that gets the same name if you upgrade it (usually the base level Master Sword is called "The Master Sword", and you work your way up from there- here it is going in reverse). In the end, we could still be looking at an error on the creators' parts. Or even more likely, they really didn't care that one line at the end of one game said the Master Sword would rest forever. I'm still leaning towards "not the actual Master Sword", though.

One last nit-pick. The Dark World/Evil Realm and the Twilight Realm *probably* aren't the same place. The Dark World in A Link to the Past (and, one would assume-though it can't be absolutely proven, Four Swords Adventures) was said to be the land where the Triforce rested before Ganon brought it to the Light World/Regular Hyrule, and became corrupted and turned to darkness when he first touched it. The Twilight Realm on the other hand is said to be a place the Goddesses banished the Dark Interlopers, who tried- but failed- to steal the Triforce, an event that occured before Ganon successfully stole it. The Dark Interlopers' descendents went on to become the Twili. It would be silly to banish people who tried to steal the Triforce to very place where it rested- a happy, sun-shiny, not very twilighty place before Ganon came around. We know for certain that the Dark World was once the Sacred Realm, the Triforce's original home, so the connection with the Twilight Realm is ultimately rather weak.

  4. I've never bothered to change anything on my browser. It works well enough. The search bar is the most I ever use anyway.

  5. The area known today as Angel Island (Ang-el, also known as the Floating Island) was once a small stretch of barren desert that hung off the edge of Westside Island called the Mar Peninsula, almost entirely life-less and arid despite close proximity to the ocean. With the eruption of Red Mountain around 11,000 BC, much of the area was covered in a thick blanket of volcanic ash, with roughly a third of the peninsula left unaffected. The remainder soon became rich with foliage as the now fertile soil was better suited to growth than the sandy desert prior to the eruption. With the arrival of the water spirit Chaos the Holy Summit, a spring gurgled out of the side of Red Mountain, which eventually formed two great rivers that encircled much of the land. Over time, this created a great basin, out of which sprouted the dense rain forest that now makes up most of Angel Island’s surface. Lakes also formed as the rivers met smaller rivers and poured into the lowlands. A nomadic band of Echidnas that would later be called Forest Dwellers took up home in this rain forest, building the Shrine of the Emerald Pillar at the pond where Chaos and his Chao offspring nested. Hunter-gathers, they altered the land very little, and would have only a small impact on the peninsula until the arrival of the Knuckles, their descendants. The desert was untouched territory for many years, even during the expansionary years of the Knuckles Empire, who constructed a few grand cities on the peninsula. They defended the area fiercely during their wars with Nocturne, following which was the greatest geologic alteration to the land mass in its history. Pachacamac, Chief and High-priest, attempted to rob the Chao of Emerald Pillar, resulting in Chaos going berserk and flooding most of the peninsula with the Emeralds’ power. Nearly all of the Knuckles were killed, and the energy back-lash of the creature’s fury (ended by Pachacamac’s daughter bravely sealing Chaos in the Controller) ripped the peninsula from the planet and caused it to ascend into the air. It has been this way ever since, though it was brought to the ocean by the force of a satellite colliding with it in 2014, it rose back into air once the satellite was exercised. The surviving Knuckles rebuilt their civilization on the new island, naming it Angel after the priestess would helped to unify the fractured tribe in the calamity’s aftermath. They extensively altered the island, building the advanced water-system that spans much of the forested side of the landmass. The energy of the Emerald Pillar soon displayed other effects as well, creating a sort of contained atmosphere around the island, giving it its own weather patterns and air elevation pressure. Red Mountain also became inactive, though a large cavity of bubbling magma remains at the center of the island, oddly never cooling. The Knuckles took advantage of these changes, especially the new Emerald Guardians, who constructed both a chamber to store the Emeralds during crisis within the hallowed volcano, and a massive levitating temple above Angel Island’s clouds called the Sky Sanctuary (seemingly using Babylonian technology). The Knuckles continued to build new cities and alter the island, producing a thriving community advanced in architecture and science. However, do to unknown circumstances (possibly lack of resources and failed attempts at expanding off the island), the last remnants of the Knuckles died out, only once specimen still existence. The next greatest alteration to the landmass proved to be of strange origin, taking the form of Dr. Ivo Robotnik the human. His space station fell down on top of the island, pressing it into the ocean and creating a large crater between Red Mountain and White Mountain. Snow melted around the station and created an enormous lake in the crater that spanned the distance of the two mountains. The scientist further altered the island by building a base to launch the station back into orbit on the crash site, constructing small factory to produce robots that would assist in his operations, and creating a vast computer/power plant that would generate the energy needed to progress all of this work (the eccentric scientist designed this power plant that doubled as an advanced computer to resemble an amusement park, interestingly enough). During his stay he also set a huge part of the forest on fire, demolished a portion of the Marble Gardens (an Echindnian city) with earthquakes from tunneling machines, and caused the entire Sky Sanctuary to crash down upon the island- although the later was the fault of a malfunctioning pair of robots rather than his doing. Robotnik’s space station at length took off with the Controller, but the famous hero Sonic the Hedgehog was able to recover it and restore Angel Island to the heavens. Knuckles eventually managed to exercise as much of the Doctor’s influence as he could, but scars still remain across the entire beautiful island.

I can do worse. Trust me.

  6. On the universe being so massive despite God (presumably) only needing to create a few things for humanity to exist, what is to prevent God from creating other intelligent lifeforms on other planets? Most creation accounts absolutely describe the creation of the solar system, not the whole universe. Perhaps Earth is merely one among many planets with life on them? I can think of nothing in religion or science that states no other intelligent life can exist in the universe.

On pheonix's thought of there being a wall around everything in existence, I believe there is one theory that states the entire universe is surrounded by or shaped like a sphere, so any attempt to look and reach the end of it simply curves around and turns back in on itself. This would explain why it seems to be endless but proves to be finite.

  7. It is a commonly held conjecture, but nothing more. There is no solid proof that Link's father died in the Civil War. His mother did, however.

  8. Biology of the Yoshi

Yoshis are largely herbivorous, but will eat almost anything. They vastly favor tropical fruits, which would explain why they inhabit islands and tropical regions. Yoshis have characteristics of amphibians, reptiles, and dinosaurs, and may be a sort of ultimate evolution of the three groups common ancestor. Yoshis can produce eggs within seconds of eating, presumably by absorbing calcium from the digested material at an alarming rate and letting it excrete with the body’s waste products. Only eggs fertilized by a male will hatch into baby Yoshis. The time the baby spends inside the egg, and what the mother ate prior to laying the egg determines what the baby will look like when it hatches. Temperature affects if it will be male or female. When the Yoshi embryo is reaching full development, the chemicals from the mother’s food will begin to settle within the egg, directly effecting portions of the brain and olfactory centers. Depending on when the egg hatches, these chemicals will either continue to alter the olfactory or it will close up and reopen after a couple hours, while the Yoshi’s skin pigment begins to come out. What color the Yoshi’s skin is shows what kinds of fruit it most enjoys and receives the most nutrition from- this is do to the fruit chemicals altering the brain and sensory systems while in the egg.

So yeah, I write scientific obserations on fictional species in my spare time. And other stuff to.

  9. Try to type a post with more text than what was in the last post.

    Rules:

Must be text you yourself typed up. Nothing copy/pasted from something else. You may, however, use text from your own posts in other threads.

No repeated strands of a single letter or number- something actually written for the purpose of reading. None of that aaaaaaaaaa-----------ddddddddd 222222222222222 aaaaaasdfjl;kjaklj;adf;lkj//////////////////

Actual content doesn't matter. Could be about anything. Waffles, penguins, the breeding habits of the bandersnatch, you name it.

Nothing that violates the rules of the forum.

  10. Multiple Links means multiple fathers, so no one explanation works. Unless, of course, there is no father, and every Link was recreated by Farore directly or something....

  11. Well, they will wonder what we are talking about and go back and look at it, right? I mean it is hard to comment on what we are saying when they don't know what we are saying...

  12. How does that relate to the nature of good and evil or the origin of God, might I inquire?:\

Caffeine is unhealthy and a person can become dependent on it for waking up or staying energized. Healthier, more natural ways to do this should be employed. It is not a strict commandment anyway, only a requirement for entrance into the temple. Besides, people typically don't bother to learn how many doses of anything is considered normal or healthy.

Also, you never responded to my last question.

  13. What I'm saying is that "good" and "evil" should be up to you to decide, not everyone else. If you think smoking pot is moral, that, for you, is good. It shouldn't be black and white.

I think it depends on whether something is good or bad for an individual, or good or bad for a society. For example, a law may not be morally wrong (driving without your seat-belt) but it could be seen as morally wrong to brake the law (disregarding something put in place for your safety and has no adverse effect on you). I consider smoking pot bad because it can harm my body as well as those around me. How your actions might harm or help other people should be what determines right and wrong, I would think.

  14. Explain Mewtwo, then.

    Got a point there.

How exactly does an imperfect being come to rule the universe? Wouldn't a perfect intelligence be needed to percieve everything in reality without all the information overloading and destroying their mind?

  15. I joined the day I discovered the site. Lurked around a lot on Fanfiction.net though. Takes me forever to write something I'm happy with...

What could the lurkers be doing? Keeping up-to-date on news in the Zelda fandom and the like I suppose.

  16. If the being that rules the universe says that there is right and wrong, and there is nothing more powerful than that being, would that automatically make concepts of right and wrong true? Also, if God rules the universe, wouldn't that make him perfect by definition, since no other perfect thing exists to replace him?

  17. I always thought Samson was more into the rock band lifestyle. I mean, he never cuts his hair, he hangs out with all the wrong women, and he always has to bring down the house when there's an audience.

  18. This started because I was talking about how relatively unbelievable the origins of Mormonism are, not because I said Mormons are bad people.

    Sahaqiel

You also said "Did Mormonism even add onto concepts of morals? I think it just messed around with the whole God system in general, correct me, if I'm wrong." So I did.

Also, this thread is about religion, and your religion, and many other religions, tend to badmouth other religions, or assume they aren't worthy or are in need of correction. This isn't much different.

WE don't need to do that HERE. It accomplishes nothing.:\

I see going off topic as something inevitable. After all, we're a Zelda forum that specializes in discussions that aren't even vaguely related to Zelda.

Yes, this is a Zelda forum, but the Serious Discussions section of that forum. And again, nothing has been said for several pages that seems to actually relate to the topic. Going off-topic for a little while is fine, it isn't like we can make a new thread every time something unrelated comes up, but really, this is nuts.
