Yeah but honestly my favorite part of marriage equality is how it's negatively effecting each and every heterosexual union across the country, as so many predicted. Now we can continue our slippery slope to Hell. Next stop, human/animal marriage equality!

Haha oh no. On a kind of related note I sat on hold with the IRS for an hour today. I got to talk to an actual human being after the hour! She had a New Jersey accent and spoke incredibly slowly and sounded insanely apathetic.

I learned what a defeated person sounds like today. After hearing her voice, I decided that I had no right to be annoyed at the hour wait time. She had suffered more than I had. She sounded like she had worked there for years.

Yeah like, for instance if you called my job during or before the lunch rush, or after dinner times, then we would probably not even answer the phone. and if you kept calling durring those hours, it would for sure be annoying. You gotta know when a good time to bug them is, which obviously changes depending on the business.

I think it makes a better impression to check up in person, but only at the right times
  5. Pizzza liked a post in a topic by Agent Zako in What song(s) are you listening to at the moment?
I've been listening to so much Lady Gaga these past couple weeks, largely while doing fun things like drawing or procrastination. Bad Romance is my favorite song of hers, but Born This Way is pretty great as a whole album. I can't get enough of the chorus in Judas. I'm a sucker for that kind of poppy synth and vocal combination.

I'll read your post when I'm at my desktop. But it's funny that the most activity we've had in a while had been bashing the series

tl;dr  I was the problem; are you?

otherwise, come and read my largely unnecessary essay. The (modern) problem with The Legend of Zelda is a particular consumer demographic that we refer to in academic circles as fourteen-year-olds.

Say you have a fourteen-year-old who likes (modern) Zelda for what it is - pretty much, a game about gimmicks. Every level in every game has a gimmick and a gimmick item, and the fun is in seeing how you use the gimmick item to navigate the level's gimmick and eventually fight the Gimmick Boss. Weaved through this is fantasy-setting story to give it some atmosphere (and charm, the charm is probably the best part now). As it turns out, this is a good game when it plays to its strengths, and allows for some clever and enchanting moments.

Fourteen is a pivotal age because when you're fourteen, you're self-aware enough to know what you like, but not self-aware enough not to be obsessed with what you like. Well, a full-fledged Zelda game only comes out about 1.5 times every home console generation, so all the obsessed fourteen-year-olds aren't getting enough. Enter two different but related problems: The Twilight Princess Problem and The Timeline Problem (again, these labels are nothing new in academic circles).

The Twilight Princess Problem: Starved fourteen-year-olds demand that the next game be bigger, more sprawling, and more elaborate. The gimmicks are still there, and the charm, but now they're under a layer of "trying to be everything"ness. So now you have the same basic gimmick game, but where the good parts are farther between because there's a lot of bloat. It's hard to pick out the charm. This is what scares me when they describe the next console game as "the biggest yet" et al., and when people get excited about such a thing.

The Timeline Problem: Starved fourteen-year-olds, anticipating this next game, have to squeeze as much as they can out of the games they already have in the meantime. They can re-play them, but there's only so many times one can re-play The Gimmick Game. So they turn to the fantasy-setting story, and milk all they can out of it; the issue is, there's not much there to milk. Zelda lore wasn't terribly well-integrated or thought out (except on a game-by-game basis and the occasional reference) until recently, because of the fallacy of people projecting that onto it. (The lorey way to look at it is "well, it's the legend of zelda, so it's consistent with the oral tradition of legends that the stories wouldn't fit together exactly", but I don't care about that EITHER so don't try me).

When I dislike something about a (modern) zeldo, I can usually attribute it to one of these. It's unfortunate, because when we have either of these, there's a good gimmick game in there that just wasn't treated right. A Link Between Worlds is a fine modern example of a game that avoids The Twilight Princess Problem by appealing to its own charm rather than being a sprawling everygame, and it looks like Totem Time Dressboy Legends is shaping up to be another. The charm's my favorite, and I'm kinda more excited for Totem Kids than for Wii U Skyrim. Low-profile and spinoff games solve The Timeline Problem by being insignificant in the timeline, but other than that I feel like the Big Boy Games are locked into recognizing the timeline until they eventually disregard it.

This feels like a colossal write-up but the truth is a guy like me doesn't care much about any of it and honestly I want to gag myself for trying to pretend I can have serious opinions on a dumb thing. They caught me, I'm riding the zelda train to the station, and whether it's a good game or not I enjoy the h*ck out of myself when I'm playing it and feels ok to be 14 sometimes

OH MY GOD just had the most unreal round of Tower Control ever. We were on Arowana Mall, my team got the tower to 25m within the goal, the other team hadn't got the tower anywhere yet. THEN. THREE OF MY TEAM MATES DISCONNECTED. TWO OF THE OTHER TEAM ALSO DISCONNECTED. 2 vs 1. This was like a minute in. But we were super close to the goal, right? Then I got killed. So they started pushing it forward, but I kept coming back and blocking their asses from getting past 25m. So my "team" was still winning. It was really puppying intense. Until 30 seconds left. Got puppying wrecked by sneak attack Roller. I die, they manage to keep advancing, can't respawn and stop them in time until they reach the goal and get a knockout. IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING LOSING I COULD HAVE HAD IT. ALL BY MYSELF I COULD HAVE WON A RANKED MATCH. WITH A SEVERE DISADVANTAGE IN NUMBERS. Until that blunder. I'm not even mad though. It's the most fun I've had with ranked yet. Well a little bit miffed I lost 12 points for that. I've never lost that much before with a knockout!!! Was it because I was so close to winning so I get punished for puppying up at the end??? But whatever I'm gonna totally friend request the two people I played with it was really fun lmao. puppy my teammates tho

Moray Towers is excellent in like all three modes tho, I'm shocked. Even Splat Zones. I tend to find the maps with two zones in Splat Zones are way better than the ones with only one. Especially better than ones like Kelp Dome. Honestly hate that map in Ranked. But yeah it's a super fun map!! Super pretty too. Chargers have got a really good map though, the amount of times I've died to them even in the obvious camping spots is lol. I might consider using a charger weapon if Moray is in the rotation... but yeah I wouldn't use a roller on it. Except Krak-on for ofc beakons. Especially handy in this map.

Also yeah Skyler our translation is a lot less... 90's-reminiscient/"fresher" sounding? lol. A lot of people were freaking out about the final boss and I was like "yeah it was fun, but it wasn't THAT fun" but he apparently is just extremely hammy and ridiculous and uses a lot of fish puns in NA. He just talks like a cliche Nintendo villain in our translation. But apparently it's closer to the original jpn dialogue? But even still yours is a lot better imo as well. Spyke doesn't really have a noticeable accent either. But it's not too big a deal, at least this game isn't too text-heavy. Although I do think Booyah sounds stupid tbh.

But yeah our themes for Splatfest are WAY BETTER, not going to lie lol. I mean for one how do they know what Dogs are in squid land??? Judd is the only not-fish creature alive. And they die in water so how do any of them ride water slides??? It just doesn't make sense. I finally made a decision though. I joined #TeamEating. Because I'm gonna be honest I'd rather spend 8 hours eating all the crap I love in the world rather than 8 hours in a coma. I have no idea which team is going to be more popular though... either option could resonate with the audience for this game. It's exciting!

    Thanks for the heads up!

This may interest some of you *coughtetocough*, Volume 1 of the Steven Universe comic comes out in paper back on July 28th (my birthday lol). Here is the Amazon link, for you guys who don't have nearby extensive comic book stores.

It's in the same vein as the Adventure Time main comic, as it features original stories. The individual issues were split into the main author and artist's story and guest authors/artists stories. The Adventure Time volumes, at least 1 and 2, DID NOT INCLUDE THE GUEST STORIES, so I'll assume Steven Universe vol. 1 won't either.
The main story features really cool and fun art- just pulled this pic off Google for example

But the lack of the guest stories is really a bummer. At least in the Adventure Time comics, they were much more surreal and featured so many different types of artists and stories. For AT, the guest stories were eventually collected into separate volumes as well, and referred to as "B Sides". I'll be keeping my eye out for a similar collection for Steven Universe.

The European categories for the next Splatfest are hilarious omg, I have no idea which I love more.... too bad it's (again) on a weekend where I'm not free during it. And can't cancel the Saturday plans this time. Oh well I'll get some snails for voting I guess. But STILL lame as heckie.

America gets Rollercoasters vs Water Slides, the latter is clearly the better option here folks. Please pick correctly for my sake.

Also Moray Towers is now released, haven't tried it yet but will soon. I hear it's pretty puppyin' crazy though. Especially in tower control. I'm excited!!!

I got my first car more than a year before I had my license. My parents wanted me to learn to drive standard, which the driver's ed program I was in didn't teach, so they got me a Jeep Liberty with a stick shift and taught me in that. I drove it for six years, until finally it started overheating on the highway and the repairs would cost more than the car.

Also, in personal news, I'm getting married tonight! Everybody is in town already, which has been interesting, and as far as I know everything is set up and ready to go for the service!

  17. Pizzza liked a post in a topic by Cassandra in Maybe it's time that we accept the facts.
Lol, a lot of people did. Zelda doesnt have any really deep lore or powerful stories really, but people always dissected it and looked too much into it. Thats why we have the crappy timeline that should not exist.

Yeah, and I see that now obviously, lol. But I meant I used to think there was a lot more.
  19. Pizzza liked a post in a topic by Cassandra in Maybe it's time that we accept the facts.
It isn't deep or meaningful or anything, but it's fun, and that's all a game needs to be.

I don't know, after a recent playthrough of ALBW and Wind Waker HD, I think it reinforced my feelings that the series is great.

I'm back randomly and I bought a 2006 Honda Civic. I'm getting it Saturday. In about a month, hopefully my license. Oh and me and my boyfriend celebrated our six-month anniversary two days ago. So yay!!
