  1. I kinda want a remake, but with a one player feature.

Or maybe like in OoT MQ you can have the original, but instead of a harder quest, you get a sequel of FSA.

But didn't the original FSA have a one-player mode too where you take control of all 4 Links at once?

  2. FS's map has outlying land to the north whereas FSA does not have any land beyond the island itself. This leads me to believe that FSA's map is not canon at all, as if it was placed on the AT, it would have to have land to the north for AoL to take place. Bear in mind that there's no reason the entire block of 3 games has to be grouped together. they can be separate.

Wow, that's a let-down... all this time I thought MC/FS/FSA all fell in back-to-back... if that's the case there's lots of centuries that could've passed between each Four Swords-themed game depending on where in the timeline they would properly fit...

The "OoT first" quote was made in 1998 or sometime before tMC was made. I may or may not be accurate anymore. I'm actually really glad Capcom made the Oracle games. They are absolutely my favorites. As for the OoX placement, the only two possible places are after LttP or AoL, and I decided on AoL because the intro shows Link riding along the sea (which is shown in AoL but not LttP) and OoX Link and AoL both have the TF symbol on their hands whereas LttP Link does not.

Yet another instance of something that's happened in the old NES games that doesn't help to establish where they fit in a timeline with all 15 games in check. The mark of the Triforce on Link's hand in AoL. We see WW, OoT, and TP Link all have the Triforce of Courage mark on the back of their hands. AoL has this too, but is his just a crest, or the Triforce of Courage? But I'm not sure because isn't Link's quest in AoL to retrieve the Triforce of Courage anyway?

if I recall correctly, Vaati is killed at the end of FSA.

Someone [i think Aethix(?)] in my FSA remake for DS post mentioned that Vaati was actually sealed away in the Four Sword along with Ganon at the end of FSA. I'm probably gonna have to play through it again myself to find the right story here... I can't remember now if he's alive or dead :(

  3. Elvis was the King of Rock and last I heard, he died when he was 42. And I heard that from a man who was alive while Elvis was alive. I'll look it up.

Also, this topic is about Farrah Fawcett, I know it's bad that MJ died and all, but get him the hell out of here, would you kindly?

Sorry, didn't mean to steal the topic highlight away from Farrah, but I just added that Elvis/MJ bit because the thought occured to me while I was reading this post about Farrah and saw Rain's post about MJ's passing.

I'll admit too that the knowledge of anal cancer is a shock to me too. But then again, cancer has a bunch of other organs/parts of the body it can attack too, so I guess anal cancer's not all that surprising to learn of now that I think about it :/

  4. Wait, what?

    Michael Jackson is dead?!

    I NEVER KNEW!

Anybody else find it odd/weird how both the Kings of Pop (Elvis/MJ) died in their 50s? Is that title cursed or something??

  5. I seriously doubt that Nintendo developed the maps for LoZ and AoL with the intention of explaining the water 16 years later. It seems more likely that the water was the best way to vary the landscape while still providing an effective barrier for the map. You also place FSA on the CT, so I'm not sure why you would consider LoZ's water and not FSA's for timeline placement.

Oh crap, I forgot that FSA's map was completely surrounded by water too... and seeing as I never got the chance to play Four Swords because I didn't know enough people with GBAs when it first came out, or that would be bothered to get into the game with me, so FS is also a mystery to me... was that map surrounded by water too? I'm hoping I can get a better answer when that new FSA DS game comes out; here's hoping they'll merge FS and FSA into one game/story. That would help me in terms of fitting MC/FS/FSA together in the timeline properly.

I usually consider the lack of Ganon/TF/MS references to imply that the game preceded any of those themes. The TF symbol around town could either be considered not canon, as Capcom is known to include elements from other games without much thought into whether or not the element really belongs. I tend to disregard it for the same reason I disregard the "triumph forks" reference in the library.

I really hate trying to fit MC/FS/FSA into any of the timelines in a way that seems plausible. We've been told by Nintendo exactly that OoT is the FIRST game in the entire chronology. But you play through MC and it really has that feel to it like it should be the first Zelda in terms of chronological order. I almost wanna say I hate Capcom for getting involved in the Zelda series because of it... even OoA/OoS is something I'm not completely sure of where to stick in any timeline either :(

Yes, FS Ganon and LttP Ganon are generally considered to be the same person. At the end of FSA, Ganon is sealed in the Four Sword, and in the GBA remake of LttP, the Four Sword is found broken in the Dark World. This fulfills the part of the SW legend in which Ganon is sealed in the SR, and apparently when he breaks the FS seal the events of LttP begin. But that all really depends on whether or not you consider the GBA's inclusion of the FS temple canon. As for the Dragmire thing, that was a name that was made up in the English version of the LttP manual and does not appear in the original Japanese, and is therefore not really canon, but it's not really relevant either. The name similarity isn't necessary to prove that Ganon is the same between FSA and LttP.

Ok that part makes more sense to me now; I don't think I ever saw that part about the Four Sword found broken in the Dark World. So if it's broken and FSA's Ganon is the one you see in LttP... does that mean Vaati is loose again too, but hanging around the Dark World? Interesting...

  6. Yes. Listen to Cat Girl. Play Vice City. You will love it.

Y'know now that I think of it, I can't remember which came first... San Andreas, or Vice City? Then there's all that Liberty City and I think Vice City stories for PSP too? Ugh... GTAIV pwnz them all anyway :P

  7. That looks pretty good. the only real problem I have with it is your placement of tMC. My reasoning is posted earlier in the thread, but I can reiterate if you want.

I'd also like to separate LoZ/AoL from LttP, but an AT placement of them gives no explanation as to Ganon's pig appearance and has geography that is effectively identical to LttP, so I don't see how they could be different places.

I understand the rationale behind AT AoL, but I don't see how those connections could be retained through WW.

It's hard to really use geography behind my reasonings for sticking LoZ/AoL at the end of the Child Timeline after Spirit Tracks, but just basically how both LoZ and AoL's maps seem to both be surrounded by large bodies of water gives me the impression that those Hyrules (if they are the same or not) would have had to have existed in a time post-flood where large land-masses have been found, but nothing as big as what Hyrule used to be in the time of the Hero of Time. Basically, post-flood... the lands of Spirit Tracks Hyrule and LoZ/AoL were as big as they could ask for given the circumstances.

MC's always been a major mystery to me. Neither the Master Sword, nor the Triforce, 2 major elements of the majority of all the Zelda games are mentioned, however you see the Triforce in the stained glass mirrors in the Elemental Sanctuary. It's almost like during the MC/FS/FSA timeline, the Triforce was forgotten by the general races of Hyrule (Kokiri, Goron, Zora, etc) and over time only the Royal Family (king, queen, princess, prince) were allowed to know of it. But I really like the idea of FSA being the "precursor" to the events of LttP, where Ganon gets the Trident of Power which leads up to LttP. But if that Ganon from FSA was an ancient reborn evil that took the form of Ganon's pig form like you said it was and not the Ganondorf Dragmire/Ganon we've seen in OoT/TP/WW, would that mean that LttP's Ganon you fight at the end is the same one from FSA? Didn't LttP's Ganon originally go by the name Mandrag Ganondorf? Which kinda sounds close to Ganondorf DRAGmire...

  8. Vaati isn't dead. He's just sealed away. And he'll get out again like he did in FSA. That way, they can just keep recycling villains for the new games.

Oh ok sorry it's been awhile since I last played FSA, I thought Vaati was destroyed at the end... so Vaati AND that "ancient demon of evil" Ganon or whatever you called him are now sealed away inside the Four Sword? Hm... damn. All this time I thought that Ganon was the same one you'd see in LttP, OoX, LA, etc...

  9. Alright here goes nothin:

    zeldatimelinetheory.png w597.png

Ignore the ad-bar shtuff on the right of it, kinda plain and the lines aren't straight, but this is the split timeline how I think it should be. I was sitting at my computer bored and I tried to chart out what the timeline may someday be confirmed to look like. I'm keeping it on my hard drive just in case we do finally get a definitive timeline, and I can see how close my "guesses" really are :P

You'll notice I left out the new Zelda Wii, mainly because it's too early in the dev stage in terms of where we can safely assume where it falls in the timeline; all I can guess is it's part of the Adult Timeline, but I'm just not sure where to stick it yet :P

**Please feel free to ask me to explain or elaborate on any reasons for why I've chosen the placement as I have. I'll help you to understand as best I can :)**

  10. I wouldn't mind a remake with additional stuff thrown in. That'd be cool. Plus I'm likely to buy it anyway because I foolishly sold my Gamecube version after I beat it and I figured I'd never have anyone to play it with again. But now that's it comin to DS and there's likelihood I can play it online with people (mainly you guys :D)

But I dunno if it'd be a new game though... Vaati's supposed to be dead now, and Ganon's locked away inside (?) the place the Four Sword rests... who would they fight?

  11. If you're not in the mood to yell, just blow into the mic, it has the same effect. Then finish it off with one swing of your sword. Easy as that.

PS I think it's called a Pol's Voice, but I could be wrong.

Yeah they've always had a weakness to loud noise/sound in Zelda games. Usually it was the ocarina/whistle you'd use to kill them, but I've seen them die by arrows too. Plus, for the PH ones you don't gotta shout in the mic, just snapping your fingers near the mic, or somethin like tapping the DS close enough to the mic spot should work too. That way you can play PH in public and not get funny looks everytime you shout "HEY" or "WHOA" or somethin like that into your DS :P

  12. To be honest I always assumed that the Imprisoning War took place from the beginning of OoT, through TP where Ganondorf's Gerudo body would likely have it's last appearance in that timeline, then TMC/FS/FSA would follow (I say this because there's a big influence here from the Knights of Hyrule, something else that's mentioned largely in LttP's intro backstory) with FSA being another time where Ganon's pig form is fought again, and it's interesting to note that from FSA onward you only see him in pig form, Gerudo Ganondorf doesn't exist anymore. Hence why he'd only been seen as a pig form in LttP and as a shadow form of the Nightmare from Link's Awakening. My guess is Ganondorf's Gerudo form is "used up"; he's forced to remain in pig form for as long as he exists, anytime he's revived.

The only things unexplained with my order I'm assuming, is one: how does Ganondorf go from TP dead in the field, with the Triforce of Power gone from his body, to back in pig form wielding the Trident of Power? And would FSA be the first time Ganon wields the Trident in pig form?

On a side note, just recently I made a split timeline of how I think the timeline should go in Paint; if anyone ever wants to see it and share ideas, let me know. I'm open to any suggestions and changes anyone might be able to help me make :)

  13. I found this article on Gamespot earlier. Check it out! This is good news for Four Swords Adventures fans :)

    http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/ze...eatures;title;1

What do you think? I'm definately gonna snag it when it comes out. And if they incorporate the DS's wireless online play into it so you can team-up with others as long as you have their "Friend Code" or whatever DS goes by (I forget), then we could do something cool as a forum community and have some FSA sessions! AWESOME!!!

  14. No... I have yet to beat OoA, OoS (Onox's last form was a bish), TP (Never had it), and the Cd-i games, And LTTP (Stopped in the Dark World's 4th Dungeon.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Cd-i games. They're garbage, and I'm pretty sure they're not canon to the chronology in either child or adult timelines. Just crappy 3rd/4th party games made by someone outside of Nintendo. They kinda play like Adventures of Link, with the whole 2D side scrolling bit.

  15. My first one was Phantom Hourglass, but then i got twilight princess off ebay. I'm hoping to get some version of Majoras mask/Oot thats compatible with the wii.

You can easily purchase Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on the Wii Shop Channel now. As well as Legend of Zelda (NES), Adventures of Link (NES), and Link to the Past (SNES).

Each Zelda 64 title will cost you about 1k points each, while the LttP should be 800 and 500 each for the NES titles. Lookin at a good $50-$60 bucks for all of them together.

  16. i dont get it why does nintendo get the idea of giving link a whip is he Idiana Jones or something

Let's be honest, a whip isn't the oddest item/weapon Link's ever had in his inventory. The Spinner comes to mind (Beyblade anyone?), the Ball 'n' Chain (big, bulky 'n' slow).. just to name a couple. And it's not like Link's never used a whip-like weapon before, we saw that with the Grappling Hook and how Link used it to swing over gaps too wide to otherwise jump over.

And another thing I don't quite follow; if Hyrule's been flooded for centuries prior to the events of WW, that's a long time that the world's been underwater. And then after PH 100 years later, all of a sudden a large, dry land-mass just pops up out of nowhere? Hm.

  17. Lol, agreed with Muffin. :P

    But..

Looking in the game as it haves a Time Line..

TP Would play in earlier days than WW...

    So yeah... :)

    This means:

Link finally traveled away again from Hyrule (Like in MM).

And became in a Sea World..

Just like PH is in the Sea world.

    So it would be:

    TP PH WW.

Which isn't totally correct, since you can't make that jump skill on PH...

But let's say the Nintendo DS doesn't have enough Game Play skills.

    :D

I think it's odd myself that PH Link didn't use the same sword techniques that WW Link did, seeing as they're supposed to be the same Link. Hell, even the 2D Link from Minish Cap had a bunch of sword techniques he was able to learn from the swiftblade ghosts and stuff...

  18. Midna looks funny in that anime... she looks half imp, half human-ish... And that silhouette of Wolf Link looks more like a Greyhound :/

  19. I'm thinking it's just because they wanted to put in some techniques so using your sword didn't seem like a chore.

Otherwise, they are on opposite sides of the timeline, but why would this mean techniques would be lost in either one?

If anything, the moves were probably known in the swordsman "community" and some of them were lost in the adult timeline.

    Sahaqiel

That makes more sense now that you mention it. Probably likely too that OoT Link knew the Back Slice all along anyway, but due to the camera-restrictions of the technology of the N64, I don't think it would've looked right. I could be wrong though.

  20. My first one was Legend of Zelda for NES. I was young at the time and wasn't a big fan of exploration/top-down view games yet, so I got about as far as the 2nd dungeon and stopped. It wasn't until LttP that I REALLY got into the series; by the time it came out I was older and had quite a few beaten games under my belt so I gave the series a shot again :). Good thing I didn't try AoL when I was younger, I'd have boycotted the series for sure :P

  21. I already have it DorkLink.

For the Gamecube. The Collector's edition is all over the place here.

But I intend to buy it as Virtual Console later so that I don't have to deal with save issues.

Second Quest is very hard in Legend of Zelda. :/

I shudder just thinking about it. Darknuts/Iron Knuckles and Wizzrobes were a pain in the ass in 1st quest alone, I never could push myself to want to tackle the 2nd quest :P Maybe someday, heh.

  22. Massive Necroposting :/

    But still...

    I have not beaten:

    Adventures of Link

    Majora's Mask

Twilight Princess (replay through sort of...)

I also haven't beaten the Second Quest of Legend of Zelda (of which I am literally playing right now)

Luckily now Majora's Mask is availabe on the Wii Shop Channel. Getting mine as soon as more funding is available :D I can't wait!

  23. I've been playing TP again recently and I noticed something odd that has to do with Link's swordsmanship skills.

As you play through TP, you find the Howl Statues (?name?) that when you howl next to them, a spirit wolf shows up on the map and when found takes you to the Hero's Shade who teaches you a new sword technique. It's the third one that's got me thinking the most; the Back Slice. It's basically a sideways roll around the enemy followed by a jumping spin slash. Which reminded me of something else.

In Wind Waker, Link uses a similar attack when you hit the "A" button at the right time to counter-attack an incoming blow. You'll either do a leap slash over the head of the enemy, or the roll-into-a-jump/spin-slash attack. So WW Link uses it, and so does TP's Link (and I'm convinced by now that the Hero's Shade IS actually the Hero of Time from OoT, and yet he knows this attack too and is able to teach it to TP Link.)

So basically what I'm wondering is this; if this split timeline thing is actually in effect (according to the dudes at Nintendo), how come WW Link can do this technique in his respective timeline, but now all of a sudden OoT Link/Hero's Shade is able to teach it to TP Link in another timeline like it was some miraculous mind revelation from another dimension? :(

I've got only one guess, and it's perhaps no matter what generation, no matter what age (adult/child), any Link can pull off the same sword techniques with or without training with a blade. I'm sure someone else can do better than that, and I invite you to do so :)

  24. I don't remember myself, but I don't think Vaati's purpose at this point was the Triforce. Since he was sealed away with the Four Sword/Picori Blade/White Sword/whatever they call it now, it's unlikely he's even aware of the Triforce's power; just images he may have seen while he was in Hyrule Castle or when he had Zelda captive during MC/FS/FSA. In FSA, Vaati was just unleashed to cause mayhem and destruction to distract Link & co. long enough to steal the power of the Shrine Maidens. I think in the end Vaati was finally destroyed and Ganon, the form that was fought at the end of FSA was sealed away in the same place were Vaati was sealed prior to the events of the game.

Also I never said the Light Force was the Triforce itself, just a variation of it's power that the Minish could've recreated. Again, speculation. But one thing I can't help but wonder throughout the whole MC-FSA series... why do they never mention the Master Sword or the Triforce? In MC the Triforce itself is blatantly seen on Princess Zelda's dress in one of the stained glass windows in the Elemental Sanctuary, but they never mention it? It's almost like the Master Sword/Triforce doesn't even exist, or are known to only a select few (ie. Royal Family, Minish perhaps, etc etc.)
