Are you happy with how the elections turned out?

Barack Obama is now our president-elect. Are you happy with how the country voted? How about in your state and city elections? Are there any propositions within your state that didn't pass but you feel should have, or any people voted into office that you think shouldn't have been? How about vice-versa?

I'm a republican, but I voted for Obama. In 2004 I voted for Bush and have since spent the last 4 years dreading that decision. Lets face it the world hates us (America). After the election I was watching the news and saw clips from across the world but you know what I didn't see, burning American flags. We've been at war almost as long as I've been alive (Cold War, Gulf War, Desert Storm, Opperation Enduring Freedom). But now I hope that we try the road of peace for a change.

Socialism will never happen in America, at least not in our lifetime, we'll riot and civil war before we allow the government to control our wealth and freedom. Obama really only has a couple of socialist ideas, and we will soon find that we don't have near the infrastructure to pull it off, we're just to populous and to spread out.

That's still a couple socialist ideas too many.

Yes, I am very happy for the results of the election. I think it's a step forward for the country and maybe finally government will be held accountable. I do feel that hope has been restored because Obama wants people to be involved with their government while I feel like the present administration wants to be in control and hide things from the public.

For those who fear socialism, then you should probably not use any public libraries, public educations systems, public parks, public aid, or any other public institutions for they are evil because they are socialist.

I am not happy. Though there is a bright side to all this--the Dems won't be able to blame their screw-ups on the Republicans anymore. ^_^

Yeaahhhh...... no. All of those in your list (except public education systems) cannot be feasibly privatized, because they're things that everybody should have access to. To not have those institutions would be closer to anarchy. Socialism is more evident in the ----ing 7 billion dollar government bailout, and things like that. Not libraries.

If you want more proof that capitalism > socialism, look at the difference between the test scores of private and public schools.

The president has a veto that Congress can override. He can pitch ideas. He can do NOTHING ELSE.
Does it matter who the president is? No. It matters who is elected to be our legislative branch.
The only time when the president really has that much power is when he has a congress that agrees with him.
But would you prefer the government trying out new ideas, or would you rather a do-nothing government where all the branches are fighting constantly?
lol.

My parents are pissed because there will be an opening in the supreme court soon and Obama is going to pick a judge that will probs be the deciding vote on whether or not to keep Roe v. Wade, and they will keep it.
Because they think that, just because an abortion law is there, thousands of girls will go out, get knocked up, and get abortions just to take advantage of this law.
They also think that, if the law is terminated, then people will stop trying to get abortions. They do not think that more and more mothers without options are going to get hurt or killed attempting abortions without a legal, sterile, controlled environment without trained doctors.
lol.
