I do, do web hosting for a couple of friends I've come about through the IRC servers. There are a handful of websites running on the same dedicated server as Hyrule.net, mostly all mine though... I have a habit of buying domains and thinking "OH I'd love to make that website/community."
I like to do this as a hobby at this time, the sites I host for people I host for free, out of my pocket. I do not ask for Ad revenue and I'll never put Ads on my websites (ever again). I've thought about adding a donate button somewhere but I don't feel right asking for money.
I also do some web development on the side as another hobby under my community name "PiLabs" https://pilabs.io/ however I haven't had very much time to focus on these projects in quite a while.
I've actually helped Mases, owner of ZeldaDungeon.net with *some* stuff (not very much) so I've helped others outside of Hnet while in the overall zelda fansite sphere.
I used to be a part of a secret zelda fansite webmaster forum (that no longer exists now) where we all congregated. But if anyone asks about it, It's a secret to everybody.
That all being said...
Would I do this as a real professional job? Ehhhhh probably not. I've been working for a K-12 public school district, for about ~6 years now? Started as an IT Intern (technology grunt work) got hired full time (IT Technician I (technology grunt work with more money)) then got recently promoted to IT Technician II or more publicly known as a Systems Administrator. I've thoroughly enjoyed my job every year... It's not very often that you get to directly help the future generations of this world. I do so by providing the technology platform for students to utilize while learning from their teachers who use more technology to teach said students. I hope @Cirt feels the same way about her job, if she doesn't well Cirt I hope you do eventually!
I have Hyrule.net listed on my Linked In profile, and yes I have used Hyrule.net on my resume/during my recent application for the Systems Administrator position I got (mentioned above). Dustin has actually asked me if I was interested in working for iThemes, whether or not it was a serious offer or not I'm not sure al though I assume it was. 
I come and go here in stints, though I've always consider this place like a second home. I try to maintain things for a couple of reasons, part of me wishes Hyrule.net would gain some new faces and regain some of the activity it used to have, and as long as people to continue to visit I have no problem keeping the lights on.

You are actually annoying me a bit. The video I posted just now is him making fun of all the homophobes who complain about the existence of non heterosexual characters in their video games. He had some other pro LGBT stuff in the past (like with tomodachi life). Point is the man has good opinions and you are ignoring them entirely because you assumed he was a douchebag based on his appearance. That's something I would expect from YouTube comments, not this forum.

It's real tough being 19 and unemployed and homeless and raggedy looking all the time. It costs money to look nice and you gotta look nice to get a job. What a screwed up system. Still trying to get my damn high school education but life's got me so stressed I can barely pass the classes. Only been a year on the street and I've had more things stolen from me than I've ever owned, including my peace of mind. Paranoid about everything, jumping at my own shadow, trusting nobody. Just a couple months ago a guy tried pinning his theft on me and I nearly got slammed for it. Out on the streets everyone's an animal and you're the prey.
 
Didn't have to be like this, though. If I'd just finished school instead of dropping out I'd still be living at home with a nice meal in my belly every day. Why'd I drop out? Ah, school was dull, all the other students always bullied me and I could never concentrate. Seems like petty stuff looking back on it, but back then nothing was more stressful. I was never popular or athletic or anything, always liked to stay in the background. Grew my hair out just to hide my face. But even still, shit was rough. It's rough being a kid in high school, because it's around that time you start seeing how shitty the world really is. But even though I knew how shitty the real world was, it didn't stop me from thinking I was a big adult who knew what I was doing. Even though I was shy I always tended to be full of myself. I thought, "no matter how bad the situation, I'll always pull out of it with my own two hands". Wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong. The moment my parents gave me the boot and I was on the streets, I knew there was no recovering, not on my own at least.
 
I'd spent most of the summer homeless, resting my head on a tear-soaked mat in the shelter at night, attempting a futile job hunt by day. Everything in life got ten times harder. Always tired and looking like shit, people looking down on you like trash because you've got messy tangled hair and a scruffy, unkempt beard. I used to shave it off in my first while in the shelter, but then someone stole my razor and tried cutting a guy with it in the parking lot. Needless to say I never got it back.
 
When you're homeless, you're at your lowest point. You're hungry, tired, fearful, fearful of what's to come. You don't know if one day the guy on the mat next to you is gonna suddenly stab you to death or grab your dick or something. It's really scary in there. And then on top of that you've got the super-Christian staff preaching at you all the time along with mandatory services on weekends. I mean at the time I didn't mind because hey, I needed someone to trust and God was there to listen. I think if it wasn't for all that preaching I'd have killed myself, but since then I've kinda lost faith, spoiled myself rotten on this new home of mine. I'd say if I were to lose this home that'd be the end for me.
 
While I was out on the streets one day scowling at some geese, I got a call on my cell phone. For the first two minutes of the call all I heard was some furious woman screaming at me, and I would've hung up had I not known the voice. It was an old friend of mine I'd known since middle school, someone I'd been best friends with for a hell of a long time. I, ah, had neglected to inform her that I'd been out on the streets, didn't want to worry her or anything, but when I told her that she got even more pissed. She asked where I was and said she was coming to get me right now, so I'd better go pack my things. Went back to the shelter, grabbed my toothbrush and jammies and waited in the scorching hot parking lot until she came. Then she yelled at me for the whole ride, and I argued back for whatever reason (looking back I should've kept my mouth shut, you know, since she was helping me out and all).
 
She took me back to her place, and that's where I've been since then. She helped me get all cleaned up and clean shaven, which was nice because I'd forgotten what having a face felt like. It's been almost a year now, and I've been grateful every single day, and now comes the time to give back to her, long past time to give back to her, and yet again, the real world shows it's true colours. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can never seem to land even an interview. Are you kidding me? How can these employers resist such a smooth face? She spouts all sorts of nonsense like "don't worry about it, i like taking care of you, don't worry about a thing" but that's a bunch of bull. And it's kind of weird. Why would you just throw money at a person and take care of them? Well, either way it's better than the streets.

I did this all about a couple weeks ago. It was a little short story based kinda loosely on my life from when I became homeless to where I am now. I didn't proofread beyond looking for red squiggles, so it kinda sucks. It doesn't quite feel finished, but like hell I'm gonna touch it ever again. So enjoy my shitty story.

AKA one of the few i haven't had some sort of falling out with lmao. be proud of this accomplishment!! used to be a lifeguard i think so can clearly swim which is a VERY USEFUL survival skill. now works as a teacher, which shows an incredible amount of effort and work and patience because god how can you have not strangled a child yet they're so irritating and dumb. is my moderator pal. we do no actual moderating but that's not really the point. can actually speak another language as well which is a skill I wish I had bothered to learn when younger. good stuff Cirt keep it up

I'm eating this like, strawberry rhubarb pie that I ended up buying from the store, and I can't stress enough how much inferior these store-bought pies are compared to homemade. Like it tastes like strawberry rhubarb, but it's so damn dry. The crust is also not very tasty. I usually sugar the crust a bit when making my own strawberry rhubarb.

my breakfast today was lovely:
 
1 cup of coffee - caribou coffee k-cup with a little bit of hazelnut coffee cream
1 bagel - cinnamon and raisin bagel thin with whipped cream cheese topped with sliced strawberries

Here's a nice video to lighten the emotional load. It's an episode of Game Center CX where they had Iwata come in and sort of co-host where he talks about how he got into the game industry and why old games are hard. The content is hilarious, but also sad knowing that he's gone.
