Are minors allowed to draw 18+ subjects?

So in the US, anyone under 18 is not supposed to shoot in photographic images or videos. I'd say that's understandable. People under 18 are legally not supposed to view pornography either.

is it illegal for me to draw porn, or other adult material? should it be?

I think sometimes, I'd have to check, but it's illegal to draw underaged children in porn.

What are your opinions on this matter?

Um, I guess I think it's fine for a minor to draw adult material. I suppose drawing child porn as an adult is acceptable*, maybe, but not healthy.

*not the word I wanna use, but can't think of another.

I draw dirty pics all the time. I have a note book full of pics I'd rather not show off. This started before I was an adult, but I guess it's a lot more frequent and more "kinky" now that I've been more desensitized to the subject. For some reason, I've seen a lot more vagina, penises, and breasts this age year than any other.

I have a friend who loves to draw, sketch, paint etc., and she's particularly skilled in realism and the structure of the human body. That being said, she has drawn some nudes (but nothing intended to show genitalia completely. Its a lot of side and back shots mostly) but I honestly don't see a problem with minors drawing stuff like this.

Now if you're looking at porn for reference constantly and drawing what would be considered pornographic pieces of work, then yeah probably not a good idea. xD

So I believe its fine for minors to draw things like nudes, but it all depends on reference material I think.

Eka, nudes =/= porn at all. I've drawn many nudes and have never considered them sexual at all.

I took a nude figure painting class when I just turned 16. lol.

and I draw naked people all the time.

I'm talking mostly pornographic or maybe extreme violence sort of stuff.

The way I see it, there is no way to objectively place any kind of restriction on lines on paper. Banning drawing of pornography is akin to crimethink, really.

Where does "art" stop and "pornography" begin? Generally, I can probably tell the difference. But I've seen pornagraphic drawings that have done nothing for me, and I've also seen non-pornagraphic nudes that were pleasing.

I drew a picture of Link puppying Zelda in the butt, except Zelda was a dog. Blood was involved. I don't think the drawing is bad or anything, (content wise, the actual drawing was a doodle) it was just a doodle that was fun to draw. It meant nothing. Sure, I got a few looks while drawing it, as with the rest of that note book, but whatever. Just draw what you wanna draw. However, if you are constantly drawing the same situation over and over again, that picture, no matter the content, probably has some significantly to you- which may or may not be healthy. I unno, that's just my two cents.

True, I think the line between art and pornography is pretty vague. I think as long as minors aren't being taken advantage of, it shouldn't be illegal. People under 18 drawing nude figures doesn't bother me. Sure, some people at that age aren't mature enough to handle the subject.
