Brand new America

Tomorrow morning, as the dew settles on the blades of grass and the Starlings sing there tune know that an event long in the making is happening. Barack Obama a black man is President of one of the greatest nations on Earth. For most of my life we have been at war. A cold war during my childhood lead to a Gulf war in my formative years, then the Iraq war. I pray that 2009 will bring a welcome change to this country, Peace. Is this what the Myans meant for 2012, not an end to life but a new beginning?

Four years I voted for Bush and saw my country spiral farther down the crapper, I felt that the end was coming. The world hates us and it scares me. But perhaps this is the redemption the world will accept from us.

What do you guys think (especially users from other countries) do you forgive your cousins?

I didn't support Obama, and I still don't. However, his slogan and concept of change will most likely be fulfilled. With a democratic president and a vast democratic majority in congress, things are going to be different. The question that arises is, is the decline of America the fault of the government, is it the fault of the people that inhabit the country, or is it just something that happens to all great civilizations?

Greece fell, Rome fell, and even China fell to the Mongols. Perhaps it's happening to America now. If so, then there isn't really anything we can do to stop it.

If it's the fault of the people, then we're screwed. People do seem to be losing intellectual capability in the modern time. I actually got cussed out today because I wouldn't give a guy a tennis ball! Anyway, people do seem to be losing interest in the intellectual arts. People would prefer rap to well thought out melodies, Halo to Picasso, and Rambo to Shakespeare.

And then, maybe it is the fault of the government. If that's it, then we may actually have a chance.

I can't tell you what's going to happen in the next four years, but I can tell you this. There will be change in the government. The quality of the change is something that can only be discovered with the passing of time.

AH well, I didn't support Obama, I didn't vote for him.

BUT, I will say this. I will stand behind him in what he does. Hopefully, some of the statements he made that made me not like him, ecnimic policy and all involved, will be ironed out and checked by congress. Hopefully he will learn, because he is inexperienced. But I welcome the change that will be brought, as long as he does not destroy what many have worked os hard for. I for one, am becoming a doctor so that I can make a comfortable living ad make a fair amount of money. I want to decide how much I make, and how many patients I have. In that he isn't what I want.

I will also say, that he will do a lot of ood for this country, he will hopefully bring more peace to the world and especially the middle east. Especially if he straightens out his view on Isreal.

He has a long way to go, and a lot of work to do. And he doesn't really start till next year, btw. And everyone needs to realize that all isn't going to change when we wake up tomorrow morning, all will not be good on the fifth, the world wil lnot fix itself nex week because Obaa is in office. The people will have to want it, and he people must support it. And all things in this world take time.

So no, tomorrow will not be a brand new America, never will there be a brand new America. There will be an America that maybe stands behind their president. Maybe an America that has changed, for better or for worse, but again, only time will tell, and that time is not tomorrow.

Good luck, Sen. Obama, and godspeed

Congress will probably have the same views as him because it's composed primarily of democrats.

I support Obama. Maybe he can fix everything Bush has messed up. Maybe he can even better our relations with the world, too. :)

pretty doubtful, they don't have a full majority and most of them aren't far left enough to blindly gree with everything he does. but it's too early to be sayng he'll do badly, we just have to wait and see.

Savanti Romero said a point I agree with ; America has always been a nation that has gone from one war to the next to the next to the next. Its what they do best. And its what they make alot of money from. So I believe that Obama, if he decides to truly fight for peace, will not live until the end of his term, as he will be making alot of rich, influential people very unhappy. Yes, you can call me a cynic if you like, but remember what happened to the last president who truly aspired for peace?

and continuing Zuzu's point, JFK was white, whereas Obama is black. I am not rascist but I know that a lot of people in your country are.

Yep, I don't really think tht he'll make it to the end of term, but I don't think it will be because he fights for peace. It might be, but it might just be who he is. And Everyone should realize that he is more white then black.

Also, yes, Racism is horrible in our country, but it goes both ways. Jus as many Blacks or Latinos or Hell even Irish are racist towards other races. I have more problems on a daily basis where I work of Black people being Racist against me then I do of white peole being racist towards blacks. Also I would like to play this video for everyone. Howard Stern had an employee go to Harlem, and ask Black people who they were voting for, They say Obama, and the employee would ask them if they liked obama for Mccain's ideas, and if they would be okay with Palin as his vp. Quite funny, and shows how many peole did vote for him because of race.

Go Barack Obama!

That outcome couldn't have been better!

It doesn't effect me as much as you, but it's still pretty cool.

Well, this is what happened here.

We have a socialist governor

We will have a socialist president

We have unborn babies being killed

And to top it all off, we have old people smoking pot. (legally)

Did I miss anything in Michigan?
