    RPG Classes
Yo, what's your favourite class or class archetype to play as in an RPG?
I tend to play either healers or support, like clerics, minstrels, bards, things like that.

Oh, fantastic! The first draft is always the most difficult, in my opinion. I've never tried to split a book, though, so that could probably present some unique challenges.

I wish I had the time and money to get a WiiU and try it out. If you could post some comparisons that'd be awesome.

    Twilight Princess HD
I got the game yesterday and have been playing it pretty much non stop since. Some people are complaining about it online saying that they don't see any difference, I have been playing the original for a decade and I definitely see major differences.
    What do you guys think?

I got halfway through the finale and haven't got back to it. I'm not super enthusiastic about Gravity Falls, and the disappointment of it ending so soon kind of puts me off even finishing it. Like, I don't really care to watch it's premature death. My denial part if me likes to keep its ending in purgatory, to preserve its spirit.

I need to get on that, I've watched the first season and loved it, only seen a bit of the second.
In other news though, Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie finally got confirmed, excited, Hey Arnold is one of my favorite cartoons

So I managed to watch both seasons of Gravity Falls over the course of 3 days and I loved it and I already miss it

Actually, I did finish a complete draft. In fact, I finished a complete draft of two books for a duology. That's why I'm having a hard time with it because I'm butchering it. I'm also trying to make two books into one by using assets from both. After talking about it, I feel pretty good. I'm going to go work on it now!
Also, I know what you mean about not fitting in with peers. I can get along with the people I work with, but they aren't the kind of people I'd hang out with outside of work. Luckily my friend is on Spring break this week so I won't feel totally alone.

After a bit of unfortunate gain I'm back to losing weight.
  10. Shadowknight added a post in a topic Feeling the nostalgia

Man, I didn't realize that game was as old as it is. I've been feeling nostalgic about Twilight Princess too, specifically because it was the first game I bought for the Wii. I waited in line with my grandma overnight at Target to get one, and I did nothing but play it for like two days. I can't believe that was almost ten years ago! It's funny, I didn't look to closely at Twilight Princess when it first came out (probably because I was too busy enjoying it), but it actually is one of the most memorable games in the Zelda franchise. It was big, each section had a unique feel without compromising the overall tone, the characters were great, the music was great, and it had so many moments that felt epic without becoming quicktime events. Remember the sword fight on the bridge? Me too. It was awesome.
I don't have a Wii U, though I may get one soon, but I'll definitely be busting out my copy of Twilight Princess this weekend.

Nintendo Direct was alright. FE x SMT looks... weird, I don't know what to think of that. I like the new Paper Mario game, but apparently people aren't giving it much love, I'm assuming that's because Sticker Star wasn't good. Metroid Prime Federation appeals none. Splatoon is getting a huge rebalancing update, which is interesting to hear. I'm curious to see how they'll shake up the current meta. Twilight Princess HD is out, and my flatmate will be picking that up. No news on the new Zelda game, which proves that it was a fever dream this whole time. The new Kirby game naturally looks like a whole lot of fun, I can't think of a bad Kirby game, so I can't wait to play this next one.

Also, Bravely Second. I never played Bravely Default, can anyone here tell me if it's good or not? Quality JRPGs haven't been coming out too often it feels, so I'm wondering if Bravely Default will fill in that hole in my heart of hearts.

If I may offer some advice about the writing, I'd recommend that you work on churning out a complete draft before doing any editing. It's hard, and it sucks knowing that you aren't happy with what you have, but finishing a draft is honestly one of the hardest parts of writing. Once you have the first draft finished, set it aside for a little while and do something else before coming back to edit. When you do, take it one chapter (section, part, whatever) at a time and work through.
Butcher it. It will be difficult, because it's like a child, but you have to be willing to cut and rebuild mercilessly until you are satisfied with the result. But again, it's so satisfying to finally produce a product that all the struggle will be worth it. And for now, you just have to finish a draft and get your plot on paper.
With regards to people leaving, I understand. After losing my best friend at the end of last year, I've been struck with a profound sense of being alone. I'm in a new city, working a new job, attending a new school, trying to figure out how to be good at all of that while also being a good (new) husband. My friends are either in San Antonio or Houston, for the most part, and I don't exactly fit in well with my new peers. That's probably why I started showing back up here, honestly. When it was an active and thriving community, this place helped me through some of the loneliest years of my life, so even though it's a lot less active now, it still brings some comfort.
But yeah, I completely understand what you mean about feeling old. I mean, I'm a married, gainfully employed, twenty-two year old grad student with aspirations and ambitions. I'm considering doctoral work and managing investments. When I look at what I posted when I first came here, the difference is almost unbelievable. And you know, I remember when y'all first started coming around too. It's strange to consider.

Alright, I just finished the audiobook I was listening to, so now I'll start on Left Hand of Darkness. I'll report back on it in like a week!
I had two tests yesterday in back-to-back classes, running from 8 AM until 12:30. The first was in Intro to Christian Theology II, and it covered a lot of theology related to heresies and councils in the first 6 centuries. The second was Christian History I, and it was much of the same with the addition of Roman and Germanic history, and with a greater emphasis on specific people rather than movements. Also, there were a lot of dates.

Pokemon is the actual best tiddy anime

  18. Teto added a post in a topic Discuss Anime and Mang

Manyuu Hikenchou is the best tiddy anime. Watch it if you can, or if you hate yourself.
  19. Cassandra added a post in a topic Discuss Anime and Mang

So me and a few of my mates watched an anime called Dagashi Kashi. So, from the context I was given based on certain imagery, I assumed this was just another one of those tiddy animes. You know the ones.
This is not just one of them tiddy animes. It's actually a pretty decent comedy anime about a snack shop. A lot of things about the anime are misleading, such as the odd contrast between Hotaru's appearance and her design, and the fact that yes, this could easily come off as one of them tiddy animes.
Overall I actually enjoyed this. I think I may have enjoyed it more for the sheer fact that it just kinda surprised me by not being what I thought it was.

I'm finally well enough to go home, June is the target month.
  21. Young Link Addict added a post in a topic MARCH, WHO UP?!?!

You know me, I always come and go. Sometimes it's not for a year and sometimes it's not for less. Though, I haven't be "gone" I've just been logged off because for some reason I couldn't log on. This is the first I've tried in weeks.
I've been trying to write my book, which is hard because I'm rewriting all of it because of plot holes. Plus I've been trying to live. One of my friends' went to college so I hardly see them and the only other friend I see has other things to do most of the times. Heck, I spent 3 weeks alone for the first time since I graduated in 2012. It was honestly horrible.
Also thanks for making me feel old, Shadowknight. I can't believe I joined almost 9 years ago. I remember the old days like it was yesterday. *Sigh* Now I'm just sad.
  22. Teto added a post in a topic Talk

Definitely. I'd say it changed how I read books in regards to diverse characterisation. The book makes a fool of the reader for making typical assumptions about characters, prompting me to big up the characterisation I do for other books. Now generally if a character isn't said to look a certain way, I'll avoid obvious traits. If the witch us described as old and hunched, I'll envision her as being tall, rather than the stereotypically shorter "witch" character.
I'm currently still reading Earthsea. On Tales From Earthsea at the moment, specifically The Finder. Having read Left Hand if Darkness, I find the world's I build in my head are a lot more colourful and diverse.
  23. Shadowknight added a post in a topic Talk

Oh, I'm ashamed to say I completely forgot about that book! I really should read it soon. I'm a fan of Le Guin's other works, particularly the Earthsea cycle and Changing Plains, not to mention that a friend of mine wrote her thesis on the effect The Left Hand of Darkness had on the representation of sexuality in modern fiction. That will most certainly be the next book on my list!
  24. Cassandra added a post in a topic MARCH, WHO UP?!?!

I mean I could post threads but it'd just be about Pokemon or something. I mean, we could all like, coax friends into coming here and stuff, but apparently a lot of errors occur when people try to sign up now.

Eheh, thanks. I post here every once in a while when I'm in the mood. Nothing I write is edited or changed in any way, as I write them from start to finish in one go. I'm glad you enjoy them.
