Posted 18 Dec 2009 "Lighthouses are more useful than churches." -Benjamin Franklin "Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man." -Thomas Jefferson To be a Freemason, you must belive in God or another Diety/Supernatural power. From Wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Franklin In 1731, Franklin was initiated into the local Freemason lodge, becoming a grand master in 1734, indicating his rapid rise to prominence in Pennsylvania. That same year, he edited and published the first Masonic book in the Americas, a reprint of James Anderson's Constitutions of the Free-Masons. Franklin remained a Freemason throughout the rest of his life. Does that make Benjamin Franklin a hypocrite? A Freemason Lodge was named after Thomas Jefferson as well. Freemasons do not name lodges after non-members. That also makes him a Hypocrite. John Adams, was not a freemason though.
Posted 18 Dec 2009 they weren't talking about religion itself. they were talking about god's fan clubs.
Posted 18 Dec 2009 I could call human filter, but eh, I don't even care. Also, where does it say Freemasons needed to believe in God? I have limited time, so I can't quite look it up. I'll be back. Sahaqiel
Posted 19 Dec 2009 Also, where does it say Freemasons needed to believe in God? From Wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemasonry * Be a man who comes of his own free will. * Believe in a Supreme Being (the form of which is left to open interpretation by the candidate). * Be at least the minimum age (from 18–25 years old depending on the jurisdiction). * Be of good morals, and of good reputation. * Be of sound mind and body (Lodges had in the past denied membership to a man because of a physical disability; however, now, if a potential candidate says a disability will not cause problems, it will not be held against him). * Be free-born (or "born free", i.e. not born a slave or bondsman).[57] As with the previous, this is entirely an historical holdover, and can be interpreted in the same manner as it is in the context of being entitled to write a will. Some jurisdictions have removed this requirement. * Be capable of furnishing character references, as well as one or two references from current Masons, depending on jurisdiction. And, if you still dont belive me, you can buy this book.

Posted 19 Dec 2009 Says supreme being. Doesn't have to be Christianity. Sahaqiel Jefferson was an active member of the Anglican Church. He was married in a church, and even sent his nephew to a Christian school. For Franklin, read this.

Posted 20 Dec 2009 If homosexuality was the dominant way of reproducing, there would be a 'should heterosexuals be accepted by America' thread. Gays are people too. I also don't see why the word Gay is used in a derogatory sense. If something is even a bit out of the ordinary boom! people call it gay.
Posted 20 Dec 2009 I've been using the word "hetero"/"heterosexual"/"straight" as an insult lately. Sahaqiel
