Posted 13 Jun 2015 I have a real and pressing question for artists who make prints/stickers/etc. to sell at conventions or events. What are you supposed to do with prints? Like I would love to support you in your art but what am I supposed to do with this A5 printout of a pattern you made? What is the practical purpose of an art print if it's not large enough to present by itself? Will I just make a small wall collage? Will I make a scrap book full of prints by anonymous artists? Why not make something I can use, like a wood saw or a screwdriver? What people need is trade skills. This A5 picture of Dwight Schrute standing on a white background isn't doing it for me. Artists need to wake up and realise that, besides being a catalyst for social change, art has no purpose. People need to learn to be functioning gears in the machine rather than look to redesign it.
