life without pants is much better imo

this post and thread is so much more hilarious when I read it with the British meaning of "pants" in mind. oh AMURRICANS, never change. :')

well the earliest instance we have of the word "pants" is in the writings of Edgar Allan Poe, the American author and poet. It came into use in the 19th century, directly derived from "pantaloons," which were a kind of French tights (worn on the outside), their name coming from Pantalone, a character in the Italian commedia del arte identified for his tights. It's probable that the name Pantalone comes from Saint Pantaleone, a Christian doctor executed by the Romans in the 3rd century, whose given name is a combination of the Greek word "pan" for "all," and the Latin word "leo" for "lion."

whats funny is that as soon as cas said "i read that with the british meaning" my mind jumped to the japanese meaning.....which is, again, underwear.
