  1. [source: Speakeasy on WSJ.com]

Courtesy of Ben Fritz of the Wall Street Journal, apparently Netflix is developing a live-action series based on Zelda!

    netflix-300x233.jpg

Will Netflix be the newest platform for Zelda?

Little is known as of yet.

The article reports from an unnamed source that, in the process of hiring writers, Netflix is comparing the series to “Game of Thrones” but geared to a ‘family audience’. It was said that Netflix is “working closely with Nintendo” on development. A representative from Netflix declined to comment, and as of now Nintendo has not commented either.

In December of 2014, Netflix released its original series “Marco Polo”, which at the time drew comparison to Game of Thrones. As of this post, the series garners 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. Marco Polo has been renewed for a second season.

  2. The Game Awards event just took place yesterday evening (12/6/14) and Nintendo have graciously given us another look at Zelda for Wii U. The video involves Eiji Aonuma demoing the game as well as commentating with Shigeru Miyamoto who is watching alongside.

Now that we have another look at the game, what do we now know about it? Continue reading after the jump to find out!

    Open World

For those unfamiliar with Open World environments, an open world environment allows players to freely roam a world, and various ways of completing the game. Some games of which have such an environment are the Grand Theft Auto Series, Assassin’s Creed Series, Elder Scrolls Series, and many more. Zelda for Wii U will have a massive overworld to explore however you choose to.

    2014-12-07_01-27-101-300x167.png2014-12-07_01-24-221-300x167.png2014-12-07_01-31-061-300x168.png2014-12-07_01-37-37.png

Above images shows us how big we can expect the overworld to be. First image shows the map zoomed in all the way all the way to fully zoomed out (last picture).

    Sailcloth

The sailcloth makes a return after first appearing in Skyward Sword. It has only been shown as a means of transportation for jumping off a cliff, to help safely land to the ground while also allowing you to travel. Whether or not the sailcloth will only be a transportation item, we do not know.

    Epona

While we don’t know for certain that the feature horse will be officially named Epona ingame we do know, like before in previous games, you will have a horse companion to help you traverse the vast world. Aonuma demonstrated a new feature, which has enabled Epona to be completely automated with no steering involved stating “…real horses don’t run into trees very often…” This now enables you to freely move your camera around as well as, use your sword, shield and likely any other arsenal Link possesses while not having to run into trees and mountain sides.

Another demonstrated feature involving Epona was the ability to vault off of your horse and instantly target your enemy in slow motion.

    Animal Life and Vegetation

While not clearly visible in the video, Mr. Miyamoto points out seeing bug life as well as having seen apples growing in the trees to which Mr. Aonuma mentions that you will be able to pick the apples and eat them. While we don’t know the extent and full purpose of the animal life, the video also showed free roaming horses.

    Different Arrow Types

Like previous Legend of Zelda games, it appears once again that there will be different arrow types available to your bow and quiver. The first video (embedded below), shows what appear to be incendiary/explosive arrows as well as an “energy” tipped arrow.

    Beautiful

While we haven’t even seen very much as to what the game offers, there’s one thing that we have seen and it’s that the game will be visually stunning. Like Nintendo’s newest titles, we can hopefully expect the game to be 1080p and 60 fps bringing a stunning gameplay experience.

Did we miss something? Let us know in the comments below or let us know in our forum discussion thread!

For those who missed the first Zelda Wii U teaser video you can find it embedded right here:

  7. Jason Schreier, a Kotaku writer, recently tweeted that Nintendo has a big 3DS game announcement for tomorrow around 6PM pacific.

Fans have been craving a Majora’s Mask 3D since the release of  Ocarina of Time 3D, and the community believes that because Majora’s Mask was very similar to Ocarina of time, by reusing game models from Ocarina of Time and likely some code, it shouldn’t be that hard to do the same with Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D.

    Stay tuned for any news!

As expected, a treasure trove of information was revealed about the upcoming fighter for 3DS and Wii U at this year’s Nintendo E3 event!

    10-June-2014-05.png

The Mii Fighters are three different classes of characters that use any Mii available from your collection to fight in battle. Palutena gives Kid Icarus better representation in the franchise.

It also seems Nintendo is appealing to the retro fan in all of us, with additions like classic Megaman, Pong, and Pac-Man, who appears to represent many of Namco’s classic arcade games. The announced roster is now a sturdy 35–37 if you count the three different classes of Mii Fighter! A release date has also been announced for the 3DS version.

Get ready to join the battle yourself, this October 3rd!

  16. We already knew that Zelda 3DS took place in the same world as A Link to the Past, but to what extent? It didn’t take long for fans to take to the game to try and find the exact spot in A Link to the Past that was displayed earlier in the Zelda 3DS announcement trailer. They have come back with the below comparisons showing us that, while the terrain may have changed slightly it really is the same world and terrain as A Link to the Past. GameXplain also presents us with a video displaying side-by-side gameplay of both zelda 3ds and A Link to the Past.

  17. Nintendo announced in today’s Nintendo Direct that a new Zelda game for the 3DS is in the works and is slated for December 2013. The game is said to be taken in the same world as A Link to the Past and will feature “layered gameplay,” by allowing Link to jump up to another level of a dungeon.

More details and image gallery after the jump!

One of the new additions to the game will be, that Link will be able to make himself a movable painting on a wall, allowing him to reach places he has not been able to get to before.

The game is set to be released this year in December, but we will see if Nintendo can uphold its due date. I expect we will see more game footage this come E3 in a few months, as well as The Wind Waker Remastered and possibly Legend of Zelda Wii U.

ZELDA IS COMING BACK TO SAN FRANCISCO!

As part of “The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses” world tour for 2013, the acclaimed concert will revisit Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco on June 10th, once again capturing the hearts of video game enthusiasts and music lovers. Following the huge success of 2011-2012, concert goers in the Bay Area will journey back to the land of Hyrule and enjoy an all-new season of breathtaking, new material, exploring additional chapters from the The Legend of Zelda franchise, as well as preserving the beautifully orchestrated four-movement symphony from last season.

Based on one of the most popular and beloved video game series of all time, the tour—which has been hailed as a modern classic—features live orchestral performances of theme music from Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise. The name “Symphony of the Goddesses” refers not only to the concert program but also to its four-movement symphony, the first of its kind in video game music history, recounting classic story lines from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Fans will relish in their favorite moments from the game, carefully and beautifully timed with a gorgeous, larger-than-life orchestral score. The concert is a festive event for all walks of fans, who are encouraged to don their hero’s tunics and master swords for the experience of a lifetime.
