Posted 16 Aug 2012 I would advise that you use at least somewhat different mechanics than Pokemon if you aren't already planning on doing so. mechanic 1: caves contain 100% zubat. nothing else. players will get lost in these caves, new and unknown to them, wondering when theyll hit the floor with machop or something in it, and then theyll finally exit the cave, and realize that there was nothing other than zubat in it all along. and then make half the game take place in elaborate maze-caves. likewise, fishing yields magicarp. Posted 16 Aug 2012 To start with, you ought to make a list of all the things pokemon does that you wish it didn't do and a list of all the things pokemon doesn't do that you wish it did. From there you can do anything you want with if from making the mechanics more like you want them to be or exagerating the flaws to the point of parody like Pitto suggested.
