Posted 19 Aug 2008 (edited) ... No? Pastafarianism is one of the more roflsome religions, so I'm not surprised South Park references it. Sahaqiel I've never heard of that religion but in the south park episode go god go, someone is trying to make someone else an atheist, and the person only believes in god because he/she/it can't be disproven, and the other guy says would you believe in a flying spaghetti monstor just because it can't be disproven? Fair point though I guess. Edited 19 Aug 2008 by Jesus (see edit history)
Posted 19 Aug 2008 That's the basis of Pastafarianism. Go back to the previous page and look at my post on it. Sahaqiel
Posted 19 Aug 2008 So did Wezer's father in the song "Say it ain't so.' He says "Dear daddy, I write you in spite of fears of silence. You cleaned up, found Jesus, Things are good also I hear. This bottle of Stevens awakens ancient feelings... Like father, Step-Father... This song is drowning in the blood" I had to listen to this song alot just to learn this. Anyway you didn't, you found a guy who falsely acuses his self of being a figure of such. I was joking, as is he
Posted 19 Aug 2008 I just found this quote by C.S. Lewis and felt like posting it here. Remember, C.S. Lewis was an atheist that converted himself while trying to figure out his argument against God. "My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust? If the whole show was bad and senseless from A to Z, so to speak, why did I, who was supposed to be part of the show, find myself in such violent reaction against it? A man feels wet when he falls into water, because man is not a water animal: a fish would not feel wet. Of course I could have given up my idea of justice by saying it was nothing but a private idea of my own. But if I did that, then my argument against God collapsed too
Posted 19 Aug 2008 Stupid argument. Man knows of good and bad, because evolution has made or minds aware of what that is good for mankind, and that we always look for.
Posted 19 Aug 2008 How has evolution made us aware of what is good for us? If we started out without knowing what was good for us, how could we become aware? Without any external intervention, nothing would have ever changed. If we started out as unintelligent entities living in a world without morals or justice, how could we know what justice was? If we lived our entire lives without light, how could we know what it was? Like Lewis said, "If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there was no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning."
Posted 19 Aug 2008 I' am Luthren Oh I had to learn about that in 7th grade. It all started with Martin Luther, not to be mixed with MLK, father of the Civil rights, who thought the church was going curupt, I think, and he was banned so then he made his own religion, and church... They make us learn that, but they don't teach us Christianity. XD
